Article in the local newspaper, second time that happened this week, I’ve witnessed something similar last Wednesday, two lorries were in front of me with wide pieces (5m) and this ■■■■■■ driving a curtain sider wouldn’t give way, ignoring the fact there were two pilot cars up front, first convoi was able to steer away, his colleague wasn’t so lucky…ended up jack knifed with the cab and dieseltank badly damaged…

There it is again, more easy to read. This time a woman biker got serilusly injured when a car overtook a truck despite a continuous white line.
By the way, where are you stuck, David? Not around Sancerre, by any chance?
Cheers Froggy, couldn’t get it upright for some reason… sad news indeed, all because people are getting more and more impatient…

Following pic’s are hanging on “the wall of fame” in the Les Routiers where I’m stranded for the weekend, terribly sorry about the quality, couldn’t snap it from any other angle…
Much appreciate you taking any sort of picture when they look like that. Enjoy your weekend.
Dont fall for that one Johnny ! The Whipper snapper is obviously dragging the job out again so he can go on the
lash all weekend !!
Cheers Johnny
Dragging the job out eh Dean? Ta for your sympathy mate… believe me, I’ve spent enough weekends in foreign places, a week out is long enough for me these days…

I notice there are a couple of things (people) missing from this thread recently, one is Fergie (Dave ) and Robert , hope all is ok.
Fergie’s doing alright Kerbut, spoke to the man earlier this week, he’s still busy in that institution where Mrs Fergie locks him up… he will be released during the winter season again…
One of the other band members we’re missing is sir David Miller, he tries to peep in from time to time but he’s having major difficulties with his internet connection… spoke to him recently, he’s preparing for battle…

Never thought about that DeanB. Patrick is too honest to do that - at least that is the impression he gives me [emoji1]
Be good

Honest as the day is long mate… does that apply in the winter season as well one wonders?
This 1932 SOMUA truck is undoubtedly one of the first “modern” trucks to have been built in France. The invention of big inflated tyres c. 1930 allowed trucks to increase in weight and speed, compared to solid rubber wheels used before. No idea if it’s petrol or diesel powered.

Very interesting indeed Froggy! Looks like they’ve build a cab directly onto the bonnet doesn’t it?
Is that the same Somua that build the artillery tank perchange? If so, I never knew they were into lorry building as well…

Some pic’s from last weekend, walked around for a bit and stumbled upon the following…
It looks you’re better than the average truck drivers who usually spend their evenings & week-ends out in their bunk, sipping beer while they watch rubbish programs ont their TV! I’m glad I did the same as you, even where trucks were not welcome.

Stumbled upon these at the docks, never saw 8 wheeled car transporters before, interesting trailer coupling as well, a fifth wheel turned upside down…
They look new; couldn’t they be waiting for shipment to NZ, where they love 8-wheelers?

Well, there’s more to it then just sitting in the cab and drink whatever poison you fancy, I haven’t got a telly, haven’t got a microwave, and I do like to socialise a bit with other people (mostly with the mademoiselles… ) after the work is done, especially during the weekends. And I can’t think of a better country to discover hidden away “gems” then France, seems every village has got some classics stashed away…
