I don’t recognise the driver or the young passenger and, as the colour scheme is totally different from all the time I knew Rod’s business, am wondering if it is before, or after, my time there.
The name Pleatvale rings a bell though, don’t know why.
I didn’t see Hargreaves mentioned, i worked in the garage for a subsidiary of theirs called Peppers when i left school. Also didn’t see Durhams of Teeside who had quite a few lorries, here’s a pic someone put on here. I drove one of these twin steers for them and thought i was king of the road
Not large at this time (late 50’s) but the fleet at Reading’s Thermalite depot grew with the addition of several more Fodens and some Commer strokers. Then later Coleshill depot opened with their own lorries.

Ah, Bobby Durham’s, always a favourite for a backload when tipping in the NE. One of the first my mate George Milner put me onto when I first started roaming.
Wasn’t it ICI bagged fertiliser that they dealt with? Amongst other stuff of course.

Yes you are right Durhams used to store the fertiliser in the warehouses at their Cowpen Bewley main yard from the then ICI Billingham urea plant , plant is still there more or less next to the old Newport bridge next to the river Tees. Loaded plenty of those with my dad who drove for Sandersons which were part of Bobby Durhams usually on a weekend running the short distance between ICI and depot usually about 6 to 8 loads a day.
