One of the longest loads Edward Beck & Son transported was this gas storage tank built at the Whessoe Engineering works at Darlington.
Pictured above in 1964 it is parked up en-route to Liverpool docks beside the A580 East Lancs Road.
L to R is Edward Beck’s wife Sarah Anne, Teddy Becks wife Irene and Edward Beck while his son Teddy Beck was behind the lens taking the photograph.

On my way to a skiresort with a A25 about 450km northwest of Stockholm but only made about 250km and parked up at a colleauge yard. Pretty good outfits they got.

Thanks Johnny heres another I wasn’t on this photo but did a couple of loads,they are concrete culverts used for bridges over creeks in the Hammersly ranges when the sealed road north from Mt Newman was built.The Culverts were manufactured in Darwin and trucked to the highway construction sites up to 3000kms south in WA.
I can honestly say 3 trailers of these were the hardest loads I ever asked my truck to pull it was like pulling against half a dozen head winds at once.
