Blackburn transport firms old & modern

Hiya,
Anybody remember Kings they ran green Seddon four wheeler’s I don’t think
they had anything bigger they had a yard behind Blackburn railway station
and carried mainly Irish beef from off Preston Dock, I did a couple of weeks
holiday relief for them back in the 60s, the hardest job was getting rid of
the dry ice after tipping because it was usually electrical’s back to Preston
and you couldn’t load with a wet insulated box, was asked did I want a full-
time job but I declined, it was one of the rare occasions I’d driven a small
vehicle, I couldn’t half get the speedy Seddon swaying about with all that
swinging beef and me never having done that sort of work before.
thanks harry, long retired.

I remember a Kings Transport in the mid to late 70s, blue motors, I think, who were based at the bottom of PIckup Bank, on the road out to Tockholes - might they be the same ones, Harry? They were running G-cabbed Leylands, Clydesdale, Boxer, whatever

Hiya,
Chris this doesn’t sound like them pretty certain the fleet was just about all Seddons
and were definitely based in a yard behind Blackburn railway station it was early in
1970 when I did a week or two for them, I would have been either on holiday from a
firm or between jobs, Chris after all these years and coming to think of it I might
have even got the wrong name but Kings seems to stick in my ageing brain.
thanks harry, long retired,
P.S. I know just about every load of swinging beef I did was to below Windsor Castle
walls.

John fitted the ■■■■■■■ - I think the first time he’d ever replaced a Gardner with a ■■■■■■■■ although he did plenty in the reverse direction!

I have a feeling that he disposed of it before closing the business early in 1999 - I don’t think it was in the auction.
