In Australia, getting word Boris has stopped All Take-Away Alcohol sales■■?
We have just re-opened Pubs,Bars etc with Strict restrictions and as Australian Political leaders have to be seen to be outdoing each other with each New order being more Punitive than the previous one, if Alcohol Take-away sales are stopped odds on our leaders will want to punish us even harder by banning all Alcohol.
At-a-glance: New rules in England

Restaurants can continue to offer delivery for food, but takeaway alcohol will be banned

Hopefully they aren’t actually saying that we can’t buy some alcohol of choice in the supermarket while we’re doing the shopping.

Alcohol is available in off-licences and supermarkets here as before.
Maybe licenced restaurants now doing takeaway and delivering foods can’t sell alcohol under their licence.
The UK has not become tee-total!

But in a tightening of the restrictions imposed under tier 4 of the PM’s regionalised system, while restaurants will be able to sell food and soft drinks for delivery, click-and-collect and takeaway, venues will no longer be able to serve takeaway or click-and-collect alcohol.
It is understood that the ban is driven by concerns that customers buying takeaway alcohol from pub and bar doors would then congregate with friends nearby to drink.

So buy a few beers with the shopping at the supermarket and meet up as before in open spaces like parks etc maintaining social distancing.
Where’s the problem assuming that they were telling us the truth that distancing works.

As opposed to supermarket ‘delivery drivers’ being instructed to enter different households to put their shopping away in their cupboards and fridges for them. :unamused:

The move to destroy the small business backbone of the UK intensifies, whilst huge retail organisations like the large internet sellers and supemarkets can carry on as normal.
If people can’t see what’s really going on yet there is no hope.

Governments do represent the people, if there are idiots in office it’s true that the electorate are well represented :bulb: , you have received exactly what you voted for, the govt you deserve.
What’s that? repeat the same action time and again whilst expecting a different result? isn’t that the definition of something? that could apply both to voting and mass house arrest of a nation.

Why would anybody by alcohol from a pub or restaurant to take away?

I think the rule was pubs could serve beer to be consumed outside in pub gardens etc to reduce risk of contagion.
Have also long taken beers outside riverside pub premises for example to be able to eat shop bought sandwiches.
They usually provide plastic not glass beer glasses if you say you want to consume your own food with a beer outside.
Also remembering the ‘off licence’ attached to many pubs.

Although what they mean by take away beers etc from Restaurants makes no sense.

They seem to be contradicting themselves if they are now saying that groups of people outside in the open combined with distancing doesn’t work.Either it’s ok or it was never ok.

A large easily controlled centralised supply network seems to fit the aims of agenda 30.Centralisation and Collectivisation ( supposedly to protect us from numerous project fear pretexts ) seems to be part of the plan.

They phone up to order their takeaway meal, and oder a bottle of suitable vino, or gallon of draught bitter at the same time?

You wouldn’t buy it from the supermarket, beforehand?

commonrail:
You wouldn’t buy it from the supermarket, beforehand?

The same way you could buy the ingredients or a “ready to eat” meal to microwave whenever you want?

I`m not saying any of this is particularly logical, just suggesting what may be happening.

Maybe supporting restaurants that you normally go for a “sit down” meal by getting takeaways is a good social idea. Giving them the profit from drinks is much the same.

Not really.

Logically it’s all about stopping pubs serving drinks outside. Why who knows.

You just ain’t going to get three courses for two or more people let alone also alcholic beverages for all tastes delivered on a moped like a Big Mac or KFC.
