I drove 1553 several times 1963-64 out of Ribble’s Rickergate Carlisle depot on city services, the bus was allocated to Carlisle when new in 1958 along with 27 others of the same type. Great buses to drive manual gearbox and steering no problem with air operated sliding door to the lower deck.
