If your job involves waiting and they don’t pay then simply get another job. I did summer cover for a company 2017 they paid a day rate based on ten hours. I never got near ten hours it was 12 minimum and more. Didn’t mind the job and they liked me. Last year he asked me if I’d cover again. Only if it was more money I said. Never heard another word.
