So, is it OK to take a lorry straight home at the end of a working week?

I have worked well within my driving and working limits this week and my boss said it’s
ok for me to just drive straight home with the vehicle without returning to the depot.

I have returned the lorry to the depot today.

is this legal? I did put a tacho in even though its just for personal use.

Yes, legal. TC might get a bit arsey if it happened too often.

I drive buses and often take it home after a late finish, a few other drivers do the same. I live out in the sticks though, a few truckers used to do likewise but there is less of that nowadays.

I think if I took my truck home I would cause traffic chaos :open_mouth: unless I went solo as I live on a main road with no verge or layby near by

It can cause problems with the O licence if people complain to the traffic commissioner. In some areas they are very sensitive about large commercials in residential areas .
