Your opinion please

I go driving occasionally for my current employer and have been taking my 45 in a lay by on my route to my next delivery. My question is would you find it reasonable to go 10-12 miles out your way, (off route) to go to a service station? I only ask because I would rather be able to go and use a toilet and wash my hands before eating my lunch rather than have to hold it in for another 6hrs and using those antibacterial gels don’t “clean” your hands.

Please none of this just pee up the back wheel stuff.

Pee up the front wheel then.

Why you asking a forum
Ask your employer or use common sense

Sorry, could not resist. I think it would depend on your boss, who is after all, paying the fuel bill. 10 - 15 miles may not sound much but if you did that daily then it would add up to a far bit of fuel and it ain’t cheap.

probably more hygienic than most service station toilets

Baby wipes :sunglasses:

Every now and then i think is ok if you need a number 2 etc but every day is taking the ■■■■ imo.

Christ almighty why don’t you get the boss to come with you and shake it for you.
Water
Wet wipes
Anti bacterial gels all easily available and fairly cheap. Most petrol stations have a bog just stop if you see one.

10-12 miles off route might not sound like much but it’s probably a tenner’s worth of fuel and so I can’t see many bosses being happy with that. If you did it every day for a year you would have wasted about £2500 worth of juice just so you can have clean hands…

You must surely pass somewhere you can stop for a ■■■■ and wash your hands before you get to your 4.5h?

Paul

Can you not take a dump at a delivery spot?

10 / 12 miles is taking the ■■■■, It’s once a blue moon stuff all in my honest opinion of course

10 to 12 miles is too far, once in a while if you’re desperate and there’s nowhere on route maybe but too far for every run.

If your gaffer was to find out that you was going 10 to 12 miles out of the way to services you may not be getting too much more experience, I imagine your vehicles are tracked so it could be just a matter of time before someone notices.

Bloody hell!! I’m thinking it’s taking the ■■■■ going to Tesco at Scunthorpe on route to Grimsby

All im saying is if you have an accident and you are that far off route you’ll get bumped!

Like I said I have never done it was just thinking about if it was acceptable in the industry (I’m still very green on all this) there is a service station that I MIGHT be able to make it to en-route (Tamworth) but any hold ups and I not get there. Just looked at Google Maps and the total detour would be an extra 14 miles like you all say it too many.

if you have to ask then this isnt the job for you.

its 14 miles there then 14 miles back again :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

forward planning is the key to this.

Given a choice between peeing up the back wheel or holding it in for 6 hours i would pee up the wheel or find a bush. Wouldnt lose sleep over it. Us blokes have the gift of convenience in that regard. I usually just ask to use the loo at customers places along the way. As for washing your hands, just take some wipes!

I’d drive 10 - 15 miles to AVOID a bloody services !

exactly, he is asking if it is ok to take his ■■■■ to the services every day, instead of leaving it in a layby

and now, to answer the OP’s question, i own trucks, and i pay for the diesel, so, yes, you would be taking the ■■■■ by doing it every day

are you trying to say that you do not go to any customers premises within your first 4 1/2 hours driving time?

or pass a petrol station all day?

as already mentioned, take wet wipes, a water carrier, anti bacterial cleaning gel, anything like that

Indeed it is, don’t have that curry and ten pints of lager the night before.

Just whack your wanger on the wheel.
