A green Mercedes Actros 1840 with long distance cab reg 00wx4936 for the wonderful Nolans
Although it was the open backed lefthand drive version in Germany and also had an A-frame drag attached. We would put 6x cluster bombs (on stillages, inside cages) on the truck and 6 more on the drag. Throw a tarp over and rope both stacks, taking them everyday between Gutersloh and Sennalager as we modded the complete stock.
You an ex plumber DB?

That is one of the first trucks I ever drove on agency, mussel hill lynx, great job and paid a good wage.
The first truck i drove was an Austin FG pantechnicon. I was on agency for Robinson Removals for a week or so. Ink barely dry on my car licence, but I was full of the arrogance and confidence of yoof.

.
Later on agency, Bedfords, D Series Fords, Terriers, etc.
1965 Commer for over a year on a coal round, swopping with a 1958 Austin too.
.
Then I actually got an HGV licence!
Passed in a D series with twin axle 33` trailer.
First proper artic was a 1967 ERF. 150 Gardner uprated to 180, with a 5 speed box and two speed axle. Next a 180 Borderer, with six speed box.
Followed by a mighty 220 ■■■■■■■ Atki with ten speed Fuller! Pity it had no power steering though.

Dunno why it’s come out sideways, right way up on my phone

Double declutching, so-called “Syncromesh” box that used to crunch away if you didn’t do the DD shuffle, half-floor with the clutch pedal, then fully floor it to shift…
The one I had misfortune to drive had a 10 speed Spicer gearbox in it, clunky as heck !
Is that the splitter switch that used to give you a dead-man’s pinch routinely when flipping it?

I belive it was an older 440 if I remember rightly.
Ended up having a lie down in one of those bogey Irish road sides,
Can remember who was piloting it tho
But no one was hurt and trust me I have done much much worse
