What is your favourite building / object you have seen or see regulary on the road? For me it’s the Millau Viaduct - one of, if not the most impressive civil engineering feats of our time. Gives me goose bumps everytime I cross it.
the alps.
A bit nearer home, when Hygena opened their all glass fronted factory at Howden I used to love looking at the reflection of my new Cargo unit and 20’ single axle trailer, shining white, signwritten SPD as I drove past on my way to East Yorkshire.I was sdoooooo young!!!
The wine distillery at Beaune with graphics of vines appearing to grow out of the building.
Well what a great subject to ponder i dont get to go far these days but i allways thought the Angel Of The North was a great site but the one that allways makes me chuckle is the essex version off the Hollywood sign Good old esseex allways good for a laugh
I still get goosebumps when I cross the Helmstedt border. It has such memories although much has been turned into a massive new service area.
Sorry, missed out the T

This^. Still feels different even after all this time.
Second is the building on the corner of my street, when it’s on my left that means I’m going home and when on my right I’m off on another trip and both things are good.
“Give Peas a chance” bridge over M25
The Falkirk Wheel, always an exciting sight and it means I am close to where I belong
Good question! For me it’s hard to beat the Houses of Parliament and St.Pauls’ Cathedral although I don’t pass them much these days. Other than that it’s my front door.

I agree, but can never understand why it,s left to rust, it would look more impressive if painted gold or silver… or better still black & white stripes with a number 9 on it,s back, and a Shearer mask on
The Welcome to England
sign on the M6 near Gretna.

Fixed that for ya!
Dover dock (sometimes Hull) on the way out…
Leven viaduct on the way home.
Theres loads of impressive things to see on your travels. Theres that big mast to the south of the M62 near Bradford, the dam you cross on the M62, water on one side, drop on the other, and then how windy hill drops down through the hills.
When I see the QE2 Bridge, the size of the big tower next to it is quite a sight.

Tyne Bridge is much better as the Angel just looks like a rusted plane on its end
I do like the look of the “cruise-ship” opposite Frankfurt Airport.
Then there’s this infamous place in Nurnburg. Might not be somewhere that many get to pass, but certainly most of us on the r’n’r circuit will have been by.
Well worth a visit to get the mind working.
I always enjoy going along the M5 south of Bristol, humprey the camel and son, the wicker man. Pity the dinosaur has gone from near bridgewater, looked good peaking out from the trees onto the motorway
does anyone remember the elephant that used to be there?
Humber Bridge going East or North - means I’m getting close to home.
In the 80s and 90s I used to tramp around Europe and the best thing was always ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’!!! when coming home…They are just magical so big and proud and seem to say ‘If you think your big and hard enough come and have a go’…Makes you proud to be British.
