Thought I was going to end up as one today. :unamused:
I had a drop for a boatyard in a place called Cremyll near Torpoint.
Looked on map, it looked a bit remote ( it was actually a cul de sac with a pedestrian ferry at the end) rang up the customer who said " yeh artic will get here just stick to B road.
Usual narrow bloody roads down there, and usual dirty looks off the locals. I approached a village called Millbrook and a guy in a car flagged me down and said ‘‘we don’t normally get artics down here there is a right turn at bottom of village, a right angled bend at bottom’’
I couldn’t turn back around,so I went for it, used all available space and managed it, it was kind of tight though.

I got tipped and asked the lads if there was a road back avoiding it, he was a bit vague and showed me a unclassified road route but he was using too many mights, should do.s, and maybes for my liking, so I went back the same way, this time having to do a left turn…would it ■■■■ go roundl :open_mouth:
My mirrors were touching the side of the houses and I could not get the angle on the trailer enough to go around the corner house.
Most of the locals came out of shops and houses to watch me (one little bast was filming me :smiling_imp: presumably hoping I made a balls up.

One lad guided traffic behind me back, and I had to keep taking back and forward shunts, gaining about 5 degrees on my trailer each time, with the front corner of my trailer millimetres off the houses, and mirror pulled in to gain anothe inch…that is how tight it was.

I really thought I was ■■■■ ed, but eventually got it round…I even got a round of applause off some of the locals :sunglasses: …the ones that weren’t scowling at me that is.
The kid with the phone camera looked disappointed  good enough for the little sh
There is a reason for sharing this cack with you, it aint to make myself look good.
Are there any locals on here that knows if the back unclassified road through Cawsand and Freathy is passable for an artic? That is the route the guys at the boatyard were not sure about.( just in case I have the misfortune of having to go again sometime. Cheers.

Sounds like the sort of place ours get down Cornwall every day ,one was so bad my bro drove down In the van to get the lorry out as the driver didn’t want to cause any damage getting back to the main road after he’d tipped ,it took him ages to get out .

Awwww you’re my hero x

Seriously though, well done. I’ve been there with tight villages etc. Thankfully most were before mobile phone cameras and you tube were invented!

So you didn’t take out the drain pipe then?

That’s ok, I knew you loved me.

Yeh it’s hanging on the back of my cab it looks like a Stack :sunglasses:

Good lad rob. Like I always say, half of being a good lorry driver is knowing how not to get into difficult situations and the other half is having the skill and composure to get out of them when it does go â– â– â– â–  up

Yep well done mate, could have been worse could have been me… :sunglasses:

I bet a lot of us, i know i am, are eternally grateful that the fetish for filming other peoples misfortunes and putting it on Youtube with half wit comments wasn’t the case when we made any of the hundreds of complete ■■■■ ups we’ve all done over the years.

This is the near exact thing. Seems like the villagers are half-expecting the driver to wave a magic wand and undo the damage.

Edit: Ok, so I didn’t read every thread on here first before posting this so sue me.

The driver’s attire really lets him down…

Before I clicked play I looked at the still image, as well, and thought christ, no grubby hi-viz but, this has got to be a strong contender for the world’s easiest spot the driver competition.

Had to do a double take there, as I was reading it I was thinking robroy would have â– â– â– â– â– â–  that, then I realised, hold on a minute, it IS robroy :sunglasses:

A warning for us all here, believe it or not this is an A road :open_mouth: , he is turning right off the A4085 onto the A498 between Caernarfon and Porthmadog and it doesn’t get any better from there, it bends and twists and is single track in places, I struggled getting my caravan through there. it really should be re-classified to a B road.

There is a lorry sat nav sign a few miles back which he really should have seen though, probably too busy scratching his truckers leg tattoo

At least you didn’t have to spin it around and make a mess of their grass like this guy

Well done batman :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:
