You couldn't make this stuff up!

So some little scrote breaks into a school grounds, climbs onto the roof and falls through a skylight…and in some sort of twisted logic his parents are suing the local council because they own the building their son broke into and got injured?!
Reminds me of not so long ago the police were chasing someone on a stolen motorbike and he came off it and died and the parents tried to sue the police saying they shouldn’t have chased him!

Welcome to the lunatic asylum that used to be known as Great Britain.

Hmmm. The link says the page doesn’t exist. Maybe the parents are suing the Sentinel as well  :unamused:

Here’s the link to the story

I hope that the Council counter sue for damage done to Public property. The NHS could also bill the “family” for the medical costs involved.

In my youth had I done something like this my dad wouldn’t have been looking to blame the premises owner, he’d have whacked the living daylights out of me, marched me round to apologise and then pay for the damage caused.

Maybe that’s why I’ve grown up to be such a delinquent.

Nail and head.

Welcome to 21st century Britain.

I’m currently off work with a crushed finger, the first thing most people have said is ‘Nice claim money coming then?’ Er no, it is as much my fault as the loader driver, I should have been more carefull when I put my hand when guiding the drum, added to the fact that the co I work for have been brilliant from when the accident happened, and I’m still being paid normally not the SSP.

It’s a sad state the pc brigade have gotten the world into. Until,as someone suggested, councils the nhs etc fight back by counter suing then this is te way it will continue

The council are fighting this, but sadly to many times these claims aren’t fought as the insurance companies just pay up as the cheaper lower risk option.
It’s not really PC Britain, more to do with these no win no fee companies, almost every other add during day time telly is for them and they even do cold phone calls saying you can get £x amount for your accident. So people just see £ signs and claim for the most spurious thing and as I’ve said the insurance companies pay up.

Yes and when the little scrotes who cause damage go to court, they should be made to pay the full damage of what it cost to put right, I was watching a program this morning when the police caught some scrote who had just stripped a house of all of its lead, he was made to pay £200 damages to the owner, I doubt that money would even pay for the lead, let alone the builders who have to re-lead it. All damage should be made to be paid for, even if it compensates the insurance companies.
As for the no win no fee herberts, I keep getting texts saying Your claim for your accident is now worth £2000 I always reply with a load of expletives, and also about the fact I have never had an accident, and that the low lifes should try and get a real job, and then I delete it and block them from my phone.

Reminds me of that story a few years back where teh burgular fell through the roof and landed on a kitchen knife and damaged his nerves in his leg… then sued the owner…

Jokes…

Bring back the days that if someone breaks into your place you can make them regret it then and there.

That still applies in this house, I’d have to shame standing up in court and saying I was protecting my family & property.

Welcome to the 51st state… mental!

I wouldn’t, the popo wouldn’t be attending, the purp wouldn’t be here, I’d deny all knowledge and admit my stupidity at breaking my own window :smiling_imp:

When I was younger, I was more scared of my own mother than I was of the police!

Sure enough, it’s a sad fact of modern life that people will sue for anything and everything.

What I want to know though - do any of these cases ever get to court, and do the scrotes actually WIN?

I can’t see how anything like this can get past a sensible court that’ll post full blame upon the “misadventurer”, and chuck them in jail for “criminal tresspass that endangers life”.

Back when I was a kid, we used to get shown “don’t do it” vids like the following - supposedly to “put us off” trespassing.

Scared the crap out of me! They should bring such films back I reckons!
I didn’t even want to kiss any girl with scabs - I was so scared off by all the “public information films” out there graphically pointing out the dangers… :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

“Don’t touch”

“Keep Out”

“Stay Back”

…and of course the classic “Would you like to see some Puppies?” :exclamation:

This is Stoke, let’s not forget. Dodgy compo claims, benefit fraud and various other methods of bringing money in without having to work for it are a way of life for some people there and they genuinely do not see anything wrong with it.

Same as any other town/city in the UK then,it’s not just exclusive to Stoke,I’ve lived in Stoke for 33 year, always worked, never made a “dodgy compo claim” or claimed any sort of benefits and the only method of bringing money in had been through paid work!
Stoke is no better or worse than 99% of the rest of the UK.
