We sure do live in a country with an upturned mentality,
As much as I am not a fan of the French, I must salute them after hearing this story,
My Mate’s mate was parked up in France overnight recently, when he heard a noise outside, peeked through his curtains & saw a Scally syphoning out his diesel.
He got dressed, got out the cab & approached said Thief, who came at him with a screwdriver,
Well, this driver is ex Royal Marines, and did not appreciate the Thief trying to stab him, so he broke the Thief’s arm, just has 2 accomplices came at him, so he knocked them both out cold.
Then the French plod turned up, Now you can bet your life he would have got arrested over here for GBH or something?
The French plod patted him on the back and make a big fuss about him getting his diesel returned, Now that is what I call a sensible approach !!!

This is Stoke, let’s not forget. Dodgy compo claims, benefit fraud and various other methods of bringing money in without having to work for it are a way of life for some people there and they genuinely do not see anything wrong with it.
Same as any other town/city in the UK then,it’s not just exclusive to Stoke,I’ve lived in Stoke for 33 year, always worked, never made a “dodgy compo claim” or claimed any sort of benefits and the only method of bringing money in had been through paid work!
Stoke is no better or worse than 99% of the rest of the UK.
I wasn’t comparing it to anywhere else in the country. As for your 33 years (as if that matters), I had the misfortune to live in Stoke for longer than that and return occasionally now. Every time I do so, I am struck by the bombed-out look of the place and that fact that it becomes ever-more over-run with aggressive, permanently angry idiots who come ready-packaged with a chip on each shoulder and a humungous sense of entitlement. A horrible, horrible place, make no mistake.

Obviously you could only afford to live in a ■■■■ part of Stoke then,I live in a quiet cul de sac in Parkhall and this side of the city imo is far from what you describe.

You’re about a mile from Bentilee there unless I’m much mistaken and about the same from Meir. Not the nicest ‘side of the city’ in anyone’s book…
Ok,least we have one less … in the city as you mention you left a while ago.
Here’s one for ya!
Few months ago, my boy ran into the back of another car in his! Now we all know that he’s to blame because he ran up the back of someone but…
At the time, the ole bill said he wasn’t entirely to blame because of insufficient signage by the highways department (temp lights, blind corner, down hill, wet etc)
Very little damage done to both cars, the guy he ran up the arse of had one end of his bumper popped off!
Fast forward 4 months and a visit from my inlaws insurance company broker to talk about renewing a fleet policy.
Turns out said driver is putting in a claim for bloody whiplash FFS!!
Apparently people can still go for upto 16K for whiplash!
Personally I thought they put a stop to all these BS whiplash claims?
And we wonder why insurance keeps going up.
Parents don’t have parenting skills these days that’s half the problem.
When a kid does something stupid or criminal its never the kids fault, always someone else to blame.
Suppose if a parent can’t tell the difference between right and wrong how on earth can they teach their brats it ?!?

Gembo,
I can fully sympathise with you on this,
When I wear my other hat - I have an Insurance brokers,
I am constantly battling with Insurers to deal with Claims properly,
Like last year when a client of ours cam to us to report a minor bump,
Classic, going down the slip road, following another car, looking over his shoulder to make sure all was clear,
looked back to the front, car in front had stopped,
stamped on his brakes & almost stopped in time, just touched the other car,
No damage - not a mark on either car - other driver said “Yes I’m fine - don’t worry about it”
3 months later, claim in from “No Win Fee” sharks for 4 x personal injury/whiplash claims,
There was only 1 person in the car - Guess what - Insurance Company muppets paid out - cos they said it was cheaper than fighting it !!!
And we wonder why are in such a state in this once Great Britain !!
Bombed out look you say Olag, you must be visiting totally different places in Stoke to those i see at weekends when i,m home,
I,m not born and bred in Stoke but moved there 20 odd years ago and can,t fault the place or its people,
I live in Trentham but get about all over the city and don,t think its any better or worse than any other place in the UK,maybe you shouldn,t bother with your occasional visits if you feel its such a dump,
Ckm1981,nothing wrong with Parkhall mate, get up there quite a bit with the dog
So many young people cant get insurance because of those scams. We need some insurance companies to bring a test case and make them prove loss of earnings and physical injury. The scrotes then could be charged with attempted fraud.

Cheers Mick,i soon realised Oleg (ain’t that a meerkat) was nothing more than a troll with too much time on his hands…leave him to his thoughts, that can be the problem with the Internet sometimes it gives stupid people a platform.
Wiretwister:
In my youth had I done something like this my dad wouldn’t have been looking to blame the premises owner, he’d have whacked the living daylights out of me, marched me round to apologise and then pay for the damage caused.
Maybe that’s why I’ve grown up to be such a delinquent.

A couple of points of order.
If someone posts something that you happen not to agree with, that doesn’t make them a ‘troll’.
‘Stupid people’? No disrespect as I wouldn’t lower myself to your level, but neither yourself nor 740MICK seem able to string a coherent sentence together. In fact, you can’t even spell my handle correctly. I’ll let you make your own decision as to who the ‘stupid people’, as you describe them, are.

So some little scrote breaks into a school grounds, climbs onto the roof and falls through a skylight…and in some sort of twisted logic his parents are suing the local council because they own the building their son broke into and got injured?!
Reminds me of not so long ago the police were chasing someone on a stolen motorbike and he came off it and died and the parents tried to sue the police saying they shouldn’t have chased him!
Welcome to 21st century Britain! stokesentinel.co.uk/Exclu…ail/story.html
What gets me is the fact some lawyer somewhere has backed this case and won it for the parents, chasing a payday. Probably approached the parents to inform them of their entitlement to claim. They boil my ■■■■.

It probably will happen eventually as this culture gets more and more out of control. Not much good to us who are paying through the nose for these %&£$H*$%^ just now though

Welcome to the lunatic asylum that used to be known as Great Britain.
+1 cannot even fly our own flags. a disgrace to the poor sods who died trying to protect it. bring back national service and give these kids some discipline and that might get shut of the ones that hate this country so much.
