Sorry Biker,I worded it wrong.Mantons were green and yellow or white, and Featherstones were silver. When Featherstones came into Maltby the drivers were out bulling their wagons up whilst being tipped.

I’d forgotten Mucous was a relative of your’s Archie, well we’ve all got a cross to bear mateI wonder whereabouts Max Hilliard went to near Rotherham, and wasn’t Leo his “minder” when they went supping in Malton? Nice to know Dennis’ are still going,I’m trying to think of the nickname of one of their drivers who never washed his motor and the inside was a tip.He lived near Malton and had some restored tractors. He was very often on that Malton -Elmswell - Maltby - Malton job.Do you remember Alan, the other day shift shunter.I hear from him now and again,he’s up at Sherburn on the Wincanton/Sainsbury contract.
WoW !! Chris,
Bloody hell mate NO, Mucous Mike is certainly no relation of mine, perish the thought. No, he’s married into Stev’es Sister in law, so is Bob, but a different sister of course. That’s right Leo was Max’s minder on boozy do’s, but I think that was only so he could drive the Farrari home.Yes I remember Alan, I thought he was up at the Doncaster depot now, or so I heard.
Cheers, Archie.
Now why did I think that Mucous being a relative of yours would get you going Archie? Sorry pal, didn’t mean to give you a coronary take any trailer you want .And I heard that about Leo driving the Ferrari for Max from Dave!
Alan went driving for Pullman Fleet Services who ran the VMU at Maltby and Doncaster amongst other places, but left there and went shunting/driving at Sherburn.
Cheers, Chris.

Sorry mate I never read this bit completely, that driver from Dennis’ was John Walker, as you say a real scruffy bloke, had a rather strong scent ? That was Apache, he used to live in a wooden shack between Malton and Pickering. That was quite a few years back though. The last I heard of him was that he was on for Eddie Stobart, a collar and tie job ? does’nt seem to fit does it ? but that’s the word.
Cheers, Archie.
