My truck now.

£100 fine am afraid if you get a young upstart from the dvsa in the uk stops you, the go boxes and sensor would be acceptable though

I can remove sat nav, dash cam.But i can t remove big blue toll road kit and another one. They hardly connected.99.9 foreigh teuck who go to Uk or across Eu have much more toll road devises.

They can take them all out when they get here because I very kindly help fund the road network so they don’t have to [emoji57]
Good like that me [emoji35]

But why Dvsa not ??Every single truck who come to Dover have 2-3 and more devises.

Oh, just a quickie; if the authorities are jumping on the restricted side vision being such a safety issue bandwagon are we going to see said authorities prosecuting those driving whilst wearing headgear such as a burqua? Or is that one super heated potato that’s too hot to handle?

I have never been stopped while driving in a hoodie, so I doubt it.

A wagon driver wearing a burqua?
Now there’s a thing.
Never seen it in my life.

According to the Facebook post loads in Bradford and Sheffield. But over never seen one.

Oh and while I’m ■■■■■■■■

These things are neither use nor ornament and it’s getting on my ■■■■. I’ve even tried to use it and I just don’t see the point.im also guessing in a bad accident it’s possibly going to do some reasonable damage to various parts of your body.

Sure those are illegal.
Re curtains, never understood why someone would put a set of frilly curtains in their truck when they’d never have them in their house.

I think if you put frilly curtains in your house, you would end up with all the fairies galloping up from the bottom of the garden.

Not a clue why you would have them in a lorry, then park up in a layby… Oh hang on… :open_mouth:

Guilty as charged on both counts, I love the feel of my knob when I’m driving.

As for the curtains, I’ve become immune to all the stick.

Seriously though it’s all down to the individuals preference or taste…(or lack of it. )

My whole point of this thread was not to discuss if non standard curtains were to your taste, it’s just that it has got to the point that a driver is today regulated up to the neck with b/s, … mostly as an excuse to fine him and make as much as the ■■■■ s can out of you.

Basically you can hardly do anything anymore, you’ll be banned from ■■■■■■■ in your cab soon’ that’s about the only ■■■■ thing left for them to pick up on. :imp:

Is it any wonder that older experienced and proper drivers, have just had a gut full and are not continuing their dcpc bullcrap to call it a day.
If I had a tickle on the lottery I would never look at a ■■■■ truck again.

On the other side of things many younger lads have more sense these days than to come into the industry.
I’ve said before on here that I am pleased and proud of myself that I managed to talk my 2 lads out of it…both of who have got better jobs, on better money, and much better t.s and c.s than me. :bulb:
Basically in comparison to a few years ago, the job is ■■■■ ed. because of all this type of crap they inflict on us :bulb:

Yep 'orrible things, never liked them one bit for a few reasons. Are they still legal because they shouldn’t be. :open_mouth:

i started a thread a couple of years ago about the very sme thing.( no doubt deleted by the ott pc no fun police) .
ive never seen one,and never known anyone who has,so theres none in existance unless anyone cares to prove me wrong?
obviously photo proof will be required… :open_mouth:

double post…sorry…isnt driving and texting a bugger? ■■■■ these smartphones.sometimes i wish the trucks would drive themselves…

I agree to a certain extent but if it involves making it safer then I am all for it. The curtains in question were not safe. For me the problem now compared to back in the 70’s and 80’s there are too many distractions in the cab. ie, sat navs, info screens and of course the dreaded mobile phone. Then of course we have the fact trucks are so much easier to drive which can encourage boredom and fatigue. We can’t fix the latter but the others could be easily eradicated. We all managed fine before them.
Why do we seem to be having all these accidents, one after the other where a truck has ploughed into the back of another vehicle. We had the one recently where the driver was caught looking at his phone and then there was a mention on a thread today about another truck driver steamed into vehicles because he had not noticed vehicles slowing. It all boils down to lack of concentration for maybe the above reasons but one way or another it will have to be dealt with. This carnage cannot be allowed to carry on.

Carnage?? :open_mouth: …What 3 or 4 major instances in as many years or less.

Roads with trucks cars motorbikes and cycles all using them together at various speeds are alaways going to go hand in hand with accidents, whatever ‘‘safety steps’’ are taken,… genuine or otherwise.

Anyway, I’ve changed my mind now, if my curtains are causing ‘’ Carnage’’ they’ve got to come down, end of…if only to save all us road users from dying a violent death because of them.

I know I am a bit slow, but I am trying to work out how having the side curtains pulled forward a couple of inches means a lorry will plough into the back of things…

because jakethesnake said so…another professor and the oracle of everything and anything.
peekaboo curtains should be encouraged as when your hiding behind them on the phone, watching movies or txting, then your alert and also looking to see you dont get caught.surely a vital addition to road safety.
id rather be tanged to the max with visors pelmets and curtains, than back driving a 1970 guy j4 trying to look in a mirror similar to the ones in a budgies cage…

I know I am a bit slow, but I am trying to work out how having the side curtains pulled forward a couple of inches means a lorry will plough into the back of things…

Well, if you read my post or read it correctly you might understand that I did not say that side curtains would cause a lorry to plough into the back of things.
The only mention of curtains I referred to were the illegal ones shown in the photo. I then went on to say about the distractions in the cab that may cause drivers to become distracted.
Please try to keep up eh.

Funny enough I received a picture today from my mate Abdul Eagerbeaver the well known Warrington Jihadi, reckons that you are an infidel and he’s loading up his flying carpet with weaponry as we speak!

Beavers got hairy fingers!

Maoster beat me to it. :unamused:

Have a look at these trucks, notice the dealer sticker right above the wipers in the middle of most of them. Amazingly they still pass mot. other dealers available.
ni-trucks.co.uk/gallery

there Iveco’s - Dvsa will take pity on them - they are hiding behind the curtains out of embarassment .

I likes trucks / lorries - especially the one I drive for my boss . That said I absolutely can’t abide anything that hinders my vision . The curtains are closed at night and during the day are back well behind the door , no dreamcatcher ( who came up with that name for half a dead chicken in the window anyway ?) no bullfighting spears , no satnav / phone line of flags stuck to the window either . We have recently had side and front cameras fitted and I had a really hard time for the first couple of weeks adjusting to it in the window . Sorry but theres no excuse for curtains half way across the side windows .
