Yet another way found of screwing you

Got this sent to me this morning. :smiling_imp:

Ok, we all know some opinions of curtains pulled forward, and maybe you’re right, who knows or cares…that aint the reason I started this thread…but note it says ‘‘SHOWING’’ rather than ‘‘pulled too far forward’’ :bulb: :bulb:

Let’s just look at the blatant hidden agenda here. :bulb:
Imo it has the far end of F all to do with safety, visibility or anything else, that is just a front, it is purely another way to screw money out of trucker’s hard earned.
And now for good measure and to not miss a trick, stne guards and tables :unamused: …I mean, c’mon ffs, it’s blatantly clear to anybody who can see things for what they REALLY are.
Don’t you just love this over regulated cluster ■■■■ of a job eh? :smiling_imp:

I’ll believe it when I, or someone I know, gets fined for it. Until then I’m putting it in the “£25 for each turn…” category.

Say I do get a tug for my curtains, I push them back before I get in and stopped, what are they going to do?

This has always been the case. One of our lads got pulled over two years ago. Was told to remove table, sat navs and phone mount from screen. He wasn’t fined on that occasion. It’s a case of wrong pull, wrong officer you’re gonna pay.

Gain evidence off their ■■■■ camera that they have filmed you with, prior to pulling you! :bulb:

I do have a problem with crap in the field of vision, and that’s all around.

There’s little enough all round vision on these modern motors compared with the day cabs of old which had windows all round, and no i don’t see the point in playing peek a boo by pulling the offside curtain half way along the driver’s window cos all your offside peripheral vision has vanished instantly, bad enough with the wardrobe door mirrors plonked on the drivers door by the bog-cleaner-come-vehicle-designer they employed at the time, without the drivers window becoming an arrow slit to peer through.

I don’t want flags or waving hands or dangling footballs or any other ■■■■■■■■ restricting forward vision, and if some plonker sticks a no smoking label on a window it get peeled off and stuck on the trim somewhere.

I see lots of folk driving with their side windows almost totally covered by their curtains. Not my cup of tea tbh but as it’s never caused me personally a problem I don’t give a flying f. Truck tables too don’t adversely affect me so again they’re on my DILLIGAF list, however our lot recently sent out a memo to remove everything from the windscreen swept area so I promptly defected mine and took it up the garage to have my rain sensor removed. Can’t have it both way folks.

Think you missed my entire point Juddian.
That’s your opinion and hey you’re more than likely right, and most will agree with you, I know that.
I could (but I won’t  ) argue that I have never had a problem with curtains, but that isn’t my point of this thread. :bulb:

I was trying to point out the never ending band wagon of opportunities the Police and VOSA jump on, to rip the financial arse out us, and the clutching at straws to find reasons and excuses to do so…alongside the nicking you for not strapping down a pallet of mega light cardboard for instance.

Oh, just a quickie; if the authorities are jumping on the restricted side vision being such a safety issue bandwagon are we going to see said authorities prosecuting those driving whilst wearing headgear such as a burqua? Or is that one super heated potato that’s too hot to handle?

I have never been stopped while driving in a hoodie, so I doubt it.

IF the report is true, and IF this thing gets rolled out nationwide I can guarantee that wearing your hoodie and falling into a certain ethnic grouping will indeed see you getting done for it.

And IF my mum had balls she would have been my dad…

That’s exactly what I told her last time we talked.

She never talks with her mouth full, so you can’t be a big lad.

Sorry but all of those have been a known reason for a truck failing a MOT for as long as I’ve been driving trucks and drivers have been complaining about garages who’ve taken their trucks for test and removed them for years too. Curtains protruding over the side windows reduce the amount of side vision that a driver has and contributes towards blind spots on both sides. Unless you have magic eyes that can see through solid objects it is about visibility.

I don’t know where you were taught to drive lorries but where I was taught I was told to do an over the shoulder check out of the drivers window to check the blindspot down the drivers side of the truck was clear. If your curtains are covering any part of that window it means you have to lean even further forward to do that check which may not be possible to do with a seatbelt on if you’re like the Tangs.

Back to original observation, when this does get rolled out I will worry about it, I have enough problems dealing with all the other daily carp as it is…

Well at the risk of being a bit pedantic, and worse…bringing down the wrath of Satan on my lugs, Do you really need to look over your shoulder anymore on every occasion.
It’s a bit like being taught when learning to sit bolt upright in your seat, with hands strictly at 10 to 2, I don’t do that anymore either.
Compared with the trucks I learned on, I have a mirror the size of a house to cover rear vision, and the smaller mirror under that (same size as an old truck sole main mirror) covers the old blind places that you once had on old trucks with less side visibility.

If I do ever need to look back, the seat belt causes no problems unless I jerk forward as if I had a nail up my arse that is.

I’ll no doubt get the ‘‘bad driver’’ routine, but proven by the times I have inadvertently been hit by a passing vehicle when setting off, ie…never, kinda proves my point.

Agree with the above, we had to take down curtains, flags, stickers etc when I was a fitter back in the early 1980’s before submitting a vehicle for test. Blooming lorry drivers! :unamused:  I did get pulled over by the Police near Stafford once for having the tax disc obscured by the wiper blade, it hadn’t parked properly, but let off with a caution as it was an offence to obstruct it.
