Yard Break In

Funny thing is about 2 years ago, our yard was broken into & 12,000 litres were stolen from our tank which was outside but the pump locked up but it didn’t stop the thieves as they climbed onto the top of the tank & unscrewed the top which the diesel was normally pumped into. Since then we’ve switched to fuel cards & the only diesel we keep on site is red diesel for our JCBs & that’s locked up in the shed.

Bleedin bad all this crap, all means is our car insurance goes up year upon year, wait to see what the floods do. :imp:

Our yard was broken into late Monday night. 8000 litres of diesel nicked from the bulk tank, one of the lorries had it’s batteries stolen (the digi tach stopped at 10:15 so at least the time is recorded) and a couple had their light bars stolen. One parked by mine had it’s beacons nicked.
Is it racist to say the travelling tarmac layers are high on the list of subjects?
Either that or the beacons will be for sale at a steam rally somewhere.

There is quite a large community up there as I recall, some even made it down to my farm a while ago with ‘left over tarmac’, tis a long way from Oxford.

Scania dealer at Nottingham was broken into over xmas, they stole 35 wheels and tyres, all off new trucks. They jacked them all up removed the wheels and dropped the trucks on concrete blocks, they were obviously in there a long time due to the work involved.
Nottingham police traffic division is on the same industrial estate.

Shouldn’t laugh, I don’t know why I find this funny, just the brazen audacity of it I suppose, just got the theme to the great escape playing in my minds eye with a few geezers frantically pumping the torque gun…

What’s that then 30 grand for a night or two’s work?

They did the same at Scania Swindon a couple of Christmas’s past apparently.

ive said this before, ■■■■■■ are far from being innocent but also far from being guilty too…

place i worked at we had diesel fairies in, yep ■■■■■■ got the blame until we caught them on a recent installed camera… it was a guy who was running a courier company on a small ind estate that backed onto the yard… he was taking the diesel and fueling his own vans…

same as when i was a security manager, seen many many times where legitimate companies or members of the public have dumped all their rubbish on a site and the blame as been passed onto the ■■■■■■…

if according to alot all ■■■■■■ are diesel thieving scum who are they selling it onto?

According to local radio, three “industrial premises” in our district were broken into on Monday night; One was us, no wonder the police took it seriously (for once).

Three months ago the Merc dealer in Boston was turned over and 30+ brand new wheels and tyres were stolen from new trucks awaiting delivery. Same mob as the Nottingham Scania lot?

Is that the site in Farringdon?

I drive past the site every night and used to see a security dog van parked in the lay-by some nights, but I haven’t seen it for a while.
The trouble is with some companies they get security in and then they get rid of them when they get no trouble on the site. They used to get broke into once a month or more, it looks easy as it’s not near anyone and is an easy target.
The security guard used stopped allot of it. But he did have a huge dog with him and I wouldn’t mess with any of them, lol

They use it themselves?

Plod have said it’s down to a few “residents” from the Standlake Diddy Camp. This is because of DNA matching one of the Didds. They haven’t taken any action because the evidence isn’t strong enough, but are keeping them "under surveillance. " Which translates to “we wont raid the place because they scream dat’s waysis!”
A couple of years ago, some stolen mini diggers were recovered there because they had trackers. Yes, nothing happened…

yep dare say that they do but the amounts being taken at times they must have a fuel station somewhere…

but seriously if someone came up to you and offered cheap fuel would you turn it down? good for you if you can tbh i,m not sure wether i would, i consider that the govt are as bad with how much tax on i,t reduce the tax and then fuel wont be so expensive?

there have been many posts on here about drivers pinching fuel and at my place i have known 5 guys get the sack cos of it, and another couple nearly got sack… all i,m saying is its not always gypsies that do the deed…

How exactly does someone nick 8000 litres of derv? I’ve never seen any travellers with their own tanker ffs, think someone is exaggerating. Could be wrong obviously but 8000 litres?
Thieving scum, I blame the Romanians.

In my last job I was on a patrol with a Police officer when we came across a red transit van parked up. We both got out and straight away smelt fuel. He made out to have a fuel leak problem but the vehicle was searched and was found to have 3 tanks that a farmer uses all filled up with fuel and little drums around the edge. He had £26 grand’s worth in the back and was using the company fuel card daily to fill it up. I would say 8,000 is amount that can be taken

Hiya a yard in Stoke got raided(a driver was sleeping in the yard and called the law)these lads got the fuel,
lugged it across a field to a transit in a quiet lane. then off to the Polish lorries parked on the layby,s near
the M6…i’ll bet you’ll never guess what country the thieves come from…no they did’.t have a Irish accent.
i think the haul was 500 litres all in plastic 25 litres.the law used the head for once, they sat with it and followed
van to see where it went.a nursing home a few miles away got 3,000 litre,s drained off their central heating tank
not long before this happened.

I may well be wrong but 8000 litres juice = 8 tonnes? Roughly.

Having loaded our travelling friends transit tippers, that’s possible.

and what was transit driver charged with  26 grands worth of any type of fuel is way way way in excess of what a transit can carry, how did said transit get there  it would never be able to set off with that amount on board

They should be charged under adr regs for the amounts they nick.

At an ex-VAT price of 110ppl , I make that about 23,600 litres which would weigh around 20 tonnes.

Pity these modern bombers can return to base and land with their cargo instead of needing to offload.

When I worked at HDNL a few years back, someone done the tank by parking round the back of the neighbouring unit, pipe and pump in to the tank, then into the back of a Transit and straight in to a huge tank. He was rumbled midway through the theft but was unaware he’d been caught, until the Police turned up and he made his getaway, leaving the pump running and spilling diesel on the floor. 3.5t Transit with a 5000l tank in the back, was apparently about 3 quarters full when he tried to make his escape. He was chased from Hadleigh Road Ind Est, across town to Wherstead Road, where he was finally stopped, having had tyres stung, and managing to hit a few cars in his desperation to escape.

He was only caught to start with because someone went out for a crafty smoke, there were 20 odd sorters in the warehouse working away, and no one heard a thing…
