Have you seen the pay this company are offering… I’d like to see it higher, but they are operating in the same arena as Stobarts, Wincanton,Turners,Downton, Dhl…and are offering a third more in wages…and except for Downton when they advertise for Driver’s they don’t disclose the pay rate…? ?..maybe to stop their drivers being laught at for working for monkey money…can’t think of another reason why…Roll on XPO…
Do they take on new drivers?

Go talk to the TM.
I have heard (from someone who I consider reliable, and is inside the company) that some of the French depots are being told not to replace drivers when they leave. The French fleet is being shrunk. The trend is to reg more trucks in Romania. From personal observation there are many more Romanian trucks on the ferries now, many with French reg trailers. Nice to see a free-trading USA company making it`s way in Europe.
(That is intended to be read with an ironical sneer)

I think if you look on Downtons website…All the jobs listed have the pay rate advertised…Also there are alot worse paying class 1 work out there…

I’d say the guaranteed 40 hrs means the basic salary on offer. Unless their idea of multi drop London is a Greenford and Southall, you’re obviously going to get a reasonable wage, especially for class 2, as an 8 hr day is highly unlikely on that type of work. If it is just 40hrs per week, it leaves the wage in the same bracket as the shelf stacking high hourly rate vs low take home pay scenario. As far as the op is concerned, I’d always seek the wages straight from the horses mouth, not from idle chat with other drivers, online, in rdc waiting rooms or anywhere. Too many differentials in circumstance. I’ve never believed so called less than nmw jobs anymore than the thousand pounds a week ones
Re-Downtons they are the only ones to publish their pay rate…its shxxxxxt but at least they ain’t shy to state what your gonna earn…Now Stobarts at South Ockendon want a Lgv 1 driver salarised and they are offering £426.00 a week…and we all know they will max your hours out…think what you would make on XPO doing same…when they pay £12 plus an hour…time and a half over 8 hours , £35 for a night out…plus you claim £11 a day meal…which helps reduce your tax…Then take in holiday pay…Another biggy Maritime rip you off on holiday pay…Why Drivers except being shafted up the gearbox is beyond me
Any company that pays less then £9 an hour wants be ashamed of themselves… do they not realise what it costs to get your licences these days…

You’ve got the Eastern European revolution to thank for that, and some of the people that say we should stay in the eu, have the hypocrisy to moan about the wages
I never understood why it remained legal for a foreign truck to spend most of it’s time working over here, - and yet the driver is not entitled to the UK minimum wages…
So much for “Worker’s rights within the EU”…
Then there’s the French truckers blockading all over the place because their cherished right to a 35 hour week is under threat…
Wasn’t “Worker’s rights” being sacrosanct - the number one reason Remainers give as to why they intend to vote “remain” next month?
There’s too many double-standards out there at present.
If XPO want to offer a third more wages - that’s at least an honest way to try and compete for the better drivers in the marketplace.
They advertised for alfreton recently twice and wages were 22k or there abouts so they aren’t always paying a decent wage.
Xpo dont pay as much as some wpuld think i have seen rates less than 9ph in scotland but everywere in the country is diffrent.
I’ve just looked at xpo jobs and they’re looking again, 23767 for a 48 hour week and third time they’re advertising this job recently which says it all.
Sorry Bro… When I state What XPO advertise it’s for class 1 Driver’s often with ADR in tanks or packages, but that would only cost you £450 plus 3 days…ain’t that some good investment…what they pay 7 tonnes or 18 tonnes i ain’t got a clue…but you can blow yourself blue in the face they are a breath of fresh air in this industry, bet the other big 5 are wondering how they are. gonna keep Drivers let alone recruit more , plus we got Brexit coming up…then in September all immigrants will have to apply for a work visa to remain,… happy days…higher wages
Sorry don’t have a clue about pay and apologies or going off topic but after all the stories in the French press about, what they are calling Social Dumping - shipping in ee drivers to drive french trucks based in France . Obviously at the expense of French jobs - and with some directors facing jail and €100 k + fines, I expect they are glad XPO have taken the reigns.
I am surprised the French, off all people, have let this go on for so long.

There’s a yard in Hull down Oslo Road, not sure if they actually run from there though, did hear they was getting the yard down freightliner Road on the left just passed mccains??
Don’t hold me to task…But XPO after taking over Norbert’s would only give there involment in France 18 month’s and then they would movve on… Remember Nobby got big because his uncle was minister of transport back in 1981
