Wrong way M6 Toll

itv.com/news/2015-08-06/two- … m-driving/

Yeah I saw that and concluded it was one of two things.

Either there was more to robroy’s foray on to the hard shoulder to avoid a car than he was admitting. Or b, Some Megatrucker at Keele was passing on the wisdom that the cameras on the M6 toll couldn’t take your picture if you were heading towards them at 56, so long as you were standing to attention for the Romanian National Anthem. Which I still believe is correct, unfortunately this pair allegedly thought he said the Romulan National Anthem.

So near, yet so far away…

So now that they have no jobs, do you think that they will be returning home to Romania?

They’ll get a job back home no problems…

I was passed last night on the M11 by a Roomo doing WELL over 89kmh whilst yakking into his phone which appeared to be stuck on the side of his head. Various bits of the trailer seemed to be about to fall off and some of the rear lights were out. Meanwhile many of his colleagues were fast asleep on the hard shoulder of the M25 again.

Legislation is fine but…enforcement is what we need.

I’d say shocking but I’m not suprised at all… iv worked out of Norton canes for 5 years now and the amount of foreign trucks I see try to get on the m6 toll the wrong way early in the morning is dangerous

Amen to that.

“Two men convicted of driving the wrong way”. How did they manage that then? was one sitting on the other’s lap? did they swap places while travelling? The passenger wasn’t driving surely, so how is he guilty?

I expect someone will have looked at their tachograph and the condition of the vehicle too, so maybe many other offences not mentioned in the article to take into account.

I can’t see what the problem is here, they had a compass in the cab and followed that.
It indicated south, so they did .

Yawn ! Over 89kms! Well, how very dare he. Have you nothing else to worry about.

It’s not about the actual speed, it’s one part of an illustration of the general lawlesness of some of our overseas transport companies. The point I’m making is the vehicle shouldn’t be doing over 89 clicks on the flat.

I did 100kmh all the time before limiters came in, whilst you were getting duffed up in the playground I expect.

Company will just keep them in Europe.
Not sure how Britain can ban a Foreign National On a Foreign driving licence, although someone will obviously put me right…

Well grandad. I would have hoped 32 years ago you were doing slightly more the 100kms. Lightweight !

100 km/h seemed to be a nice cruising speed, allegedly. Speed limiters were introduced more recently than 32 years ago though!

I do miss the ■■■■■■■■ stories of derring do. It used to be all R385’s, 3300’s & F12s doing 100 mph & Porsches tumbling over the edge of the road into canyons trying to keep up. Nowadays we’re 1% outlaw if we fill up on the non Keyfuels pump or wait for 60 kms or 40 minutes before we get a wheel re-torqued.

It means they are banned from driving in the UK. While that will probably make little difference to them as they can continue driving elsewhere, it does at least keep them off UK roads for a while.

That article is from a year ago, and was discussed here at the time. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=128889&p=2013524

Any idea how that’s enforced mate?
Is it just a case of them obeying the ban, or will they be challenged when they come through the ports?

The same as any other driving ban is enforced. I think it is highly unlikely that the immigration authorities will check for DVLA records of EU citizens entering the UK.

It’s ok They had the hazard lights on.
