to be fair it shouldn’t have happened but at least they will give him some further training, I know we all sit and give it this that and the other but everyone will have made some sort of mistake (maybe not as bad) but a mistake all the same.
Had he done this…
On his test, he’d have failed (cos that aint a minor). On a driving assessment, he wouldn’t have got the job.
If he’s managed to misread that, what else could he not see in future, a bridge height, a parked car, a small child or the right of way at a busy crossroads?
so for a single misjudgement just toss him on the scrap heap!
maybe he had an assessment and passed he has the licence so again has drove to a standard set.

I think if you’re the cpc holder on the o licence, you have several obligations to toss him away. Legal/moral/self interest. And I dare say they’re already kept busy with the standard of drivers already employed. I wouldn’t want someone like that on my licence

British ex army driver…says it all.Sounds like you probably know what RCT stood for before it got changed…
Is that your way of saying that I’m an old git? If so spot on.
but this is my point by taking the time to further train rather than discard and replace with worse or the same surely that’s a better option.
blimey its not like these pages are filled with every man and his dog grassing up the poor standards of driving on the roads. so he made a mistake yes a very poor one but it happens look at the amount of bridge strikes we see etc.
I’m Gona get alot of hate for this but, after playing the video over an over , I think driver knows exactly what he was up to , he was to close to the car in front ( sign of hurry) , brake lights weren’t ON until he actually see that same car coming across on the roundabout THRU HIS BLIND SPOT!! I think he’s not as dumb as may some ppl think… Saying this my reply is not to judge anyone, as we well know how our Lorry business is on a daily basis… I saw the video as a situation of perhaps trying to shave some possible precious minutes for the various reasons you all most know !.. Car in front looks like an Peugeot 107 or something similar (usually driven by ppl whom have an average speed of 35 to 40 mph ) so do the maths.
PS: I’m not supporting this type of moves, we all have different ways to deal with the daily pressure of our carrer, some have more finesse than others (standards).

What could possibly go wrong.

We know it’s a bleedin roundabout. What isn’t so clear is the layout of the approach to it by which time it was probably too late for the unfortunate miscreant in this case.Because firstly the muppets at the council haven’t maintained even the road markings they’ve got let alone marked it out properly by continuing the solid lines from the bridge up to the Island.
As for foreigners even more reason to mark out the approach to the roundabout properly.
Bearing in mind it wasn’t actually me who went round the thing the wrong way having obviously got on the wrong side of the road on the approach to it.
I know it’s not you silly, you can’t drive a truck (anymore)
.You are however making excuses for this incredibly poor bit of driving which would lead me to question your judgement. A roundabout is such an obvious feature the road could be devoid of all markings and signs and it would still be bleeding obvious
We know it’s a dodgy piece of driving IE if in doubt stop. But you still seem to be missing the point that the problem wasn’t that he went round the roundabout the wrong way it’s that he ended up on the wrong side of the road on ‘the approach to it’.Which obviously would have been less likely ‘if’ the council had spent a few bob on some clearly painted solid lines continuing from the bridge to the island at the roundabout.
Still flogging that dead horse then
That wasn’t dodgy driving, that was dangerous driving. He was a mature driver, local to his depot so on familiar roads. He knew exactly what he was doing. I can’t believe why some people would try and defend it. Just seems to be the norm in society these days, to slate general opinion for the sake of opening ones mouth, or the tapping of fingers

To be fair the CSI has moved on to it being a possible deliberate move to get back to the yard a bit quicker.

To be fair you can’t really blame anyone for looking at the idea of that being a deliberate move,as unbelievable. But who knows maybe possible by today’s ever reducing standards.

he must have been hellish disappointed after taking the short cut only to find that the old woman in the pug had been quicker the long way round.
my guess is, it was a hands free call resulting in a serious loss of concentration
Shocking bit of driving, be it a lack of concentration or a shortcut!
The road markings are irrelevant CF, there are thousands of instances around the country like that.
So sorry, I for one won’t be joining your nimby club to petition my MP to spend a bloody fortune just to keep the odd bellend from being a ■■■■!
I agree with War though that possibly he should be given a second chance, but that’s between him and his employer which may involve information not yet presented to TNUK CSI…
P.S.I’d rather have a driver that puts diesel in the adblue tank and can’t remember the make of his truck than this driver!

Have you not read/watched any of the accounts and videos? The driver concerned was BRITISH, not some flip-flop…

Tango boy.
Just like being at home…
Refers to always being wrong!
But it seems everyones looked at it and judged what the driver did…or assumed as he was the driver and only he knows how or why he did what he did!

We’ve all done it. Just that there are bloody cameras everywhere these days.

We’ve probably all done “things”, but not gone the wrong way around a roundabout. It’s a pretty ■■■■■■■■ ■■■■-up.
