Winter is upon us, the gritters are out in force hogging the middle lane, which side will you pass them?Left or Right?
am not a suicide jockey so it the righthand side overtake for me
Risking prosecution for using the outside lane?
The Gritter is not a wide or long load, just a normal 6 or 8 wheeler with a conveyor.
You must not drive on the right-hand lane of the motorway if you are driving any of the following, a vehicle drawing a trailer; a goods vehicle etc etc with a maximum laden weight of over 7.5 tonnes; a bus or a coach unless you have to overtake an exceptionally wide load
done it in front of the coppers before and nothing was said or done, and here is what was said on here the last time it was asked /viewtopic.php?f=5&t=80646
I know. I am a little tinker bringing the question up again. I just did to provoke a new debate about passing on the nearside

they wont/cant be doing more than 40 while gritting ,and will expect traffic to pass both sides

If a LGV then pass on left because using the right lane is considered illegal in that situation although many cops will overlook it
You make your choice and takes your chance if passing it using lane 3 in a LGV !!
Yes, that’s right Rog. We have to watch out for self-appointed road police such as yourself who have nothing better to do with their time than ring up companies seen in pics on other people’s threads and report them for their misdemeanours. Very relevant to this thread and your comments here I think.
Very sad. I actually feel sorry for you that your life is so empty that you resort to this kind of petty BS. Have you taken a look in a mirror recently and seen what sort of person you are? The world would be a much nicer place if it were rid of people like you.
And Rog, please quit spamming my private message account with your BS. I refuse to enter into any private discussion with you and have deleted them without reading them. If you have anything to say you can say it right here in this thread.

Secondly, you have the option to block PMs from those you do not wish to receive from

Lane 1 anyone.
Lane 2 overtaking.
Lane 3 cairnryan town.
You mean to tell me rog that if your sitting behind one in the middle lane who is dueling with a fellow professional on the inside lane and nobody wants to give and you know your limiter is set to 100 clicks you won’t pull out and do the business?

Good lord no, that would mean climbing down from his high ground and leaving the house

Why would a 40 mph gritter be duelling ■■?!!
Rog would you recommend to under take in your Op
if you were stll a instructor.
If the situation arised in the course of you training someone, and say that person did it on his /hers test and failed for diriving without due care and attention
I think as a former instructor you would follow the highway code
I wait to see the next post someone post on here about and blind spot accident on a motor way and will see that you thing its ok to do some thing that can and does cause death.

Knowing that the DSA examiners do not like ‘undertaking’ then I would advise someone on test not to do it. however if it was done safely on test then there is nothing the examiner can mark on the sheet for doing it
On an advanced driving test with a police examiner who is a higher authority than a DSA examiner then they would frown on a driver for not taking the safe advantage

My post was on topic and relevant to the thread discussion. I am not seeing a problem other than a well deserved red face from the Leicestershire area of the country.

I must remember to ask my traffic friends that one next I see them…
As yet I have NEVER seen a blues and twos run car/ambulance/tender/doctor/coastguard “Undertake/pass on the left” on a motorway UNLESS lane 3 is stationary or on the hard shoulder or taking lane 1 to exit motorway.

Shame the number plate of the unit in lane 3 isn’t visible…would have given Rog something to do tracking it down and reporting it…saddo that he is.

I don’t think he is interested since he put his feet up
