Would you take an artic up this city street?

Just a snap poll/curiosity question, set the scene you’re doing city centre deliveries that you have not done before in your artic, the sat nav says turn left up this road and your next customer is up on the right hand side :exclamation: . Or for those of you who don’t believe in them   a bloke on the street has given you some directions, as the title says

Would you drive or even attempt to take your artic up this road

It really depends whats at teh end of that road? If a dead end of a real tight corner for more shops then no.

road goes up hill and exits at the top. no shop fronts just backs of buidings/bins etc etc

you can only approach it from the direction i am facing, and the road is single lane.

I would give it a go after walking up it :grimacing:

How about going down the street your on singing it round and reversing up tehre presuming the shop your tipping it is close to the street itself? Infact this all sounds liek to much work, can you not get a puddle jumper or is it an artic load?

Yeah Id give it a go…

Myself, I would pull up, hazzards on, grab notes and take a wonder up to

a/ see if the delivery actually was up there

b/ check out access, exit route etc

If a and b check out then I just might give it a go :grimacing:

Edit< just looking at the picture again…what do the road signs by the one way arrows say…could make a big difference to the decision (although I would discover the answer whilst doing b above)

along the lines of NO LOADING/UNLOADING BETWEEN 10AM - 4PM. traffic wardens dont miss a trick…

we’ve had bigger in here driver.

I’d take a walk up and check it out but i initial feeling is no ■■■■■■■ way! I’ve noticed heros tend to be the first people to get shot.

as said walk it and have a look, if drop is up there how much is it a full load or part? can be accessed easy enough with a pallet truck? if you have one and load is light stuff

just a matter of weighing the options if it was me and the load was heavy and alot I would give it ago, either forwards or if poss reverse,
parking restrictions well my comapny pay my tickets so unless there is an easier option

Thats Notts city centre, I have walked along that road for 20+ years and seen bin men in trucks that are half the size of an artic have trouble getting in without shunting in so NO way pedro  :stuck_out_tongue:

you can get a artic up there its abit tight. and your right about the traffic warden as i get a ticket there everyday

I wonder what size cab, and trailor is being used. My actross mega space and 44 foot trailer is in my opinion just too big and the amount of pedestrians isnt going to make it any easier. I wanna see it happen now just for my own peace of mind :stuck_out_tongue:

If I had full ppe a driver cpc and a bag on my head …no prob

you’d get a D9 on a low loader up there drive

As it’s a one-way street doesn’t that sort of rule out reversing up it?

Stan

notts is it, my last venture there i was trying to spot a shop on radford road , i missed the sign[ well the copper said there was one] , saying no unloading before 9.30 a.m,i started to tip at 9.20 , he wasnt happ :y , said by doing what i was doing i was making it impossible for emergency services, trams etc to get by, wasnt bothered :l about pedestrians as i was well up on path, well im sorry i said but anytime of the day im going to cause chaos tipping here, if you let me get on with it the 1 pallet will be hanballed off in mins, he carried on about how all hgv drivers think there a rule unto themselves, hed lost count of havent seen the sign excuse.
in the end i said id know next time and thankyou for the advice officer  , was tipping on radford road at 9.00 a.m the following week     .
as for the question i did the lace market a few months ago[had nightmares on the way thinking id have to manouvere in ans out the market stalls to get tipped  ], but as above pulled up at end of road, walked up and FIT BIRD   , came out and took small box off me, so id have a walk up and look ,then decide best way to do job

Is that in Nottingham? I work around the courner from there.
Id go in it from the other way, or leave the truck there(or even parked at the side of the tram line) then taker a walk up and see.
What is up there

yes its nottingham, and this is what’s around the corner…
slight bend then becomes straight again till you reach top of the hill…with normally tosco at the top blocking the exit  - i wonder if they send the same driver everyday :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :imp: :imp: :imp:

Probably not as there’s no visible tyre marks on the road/pavement indicating that other artics have been up there.
