I worked for a well known company from the south west of Scotland and the job was long distance with four to five nights out a week, this was back in 1996, now their policy was no pay for the first four hrs on a sat mornin as years ago lads use to stop at Southwaite services on a friday night and run home to Twynholm in the morning for the extra cash…

Ollie says he’s staying out of the forum and everyone else is picking up their dummies. One operator is going to get the boys in and you ain’t a real trucker unless you sell your house and live in the truck and only ever have 9 hrs daily rest.

I guess you could be lucky to have a job paying you plenty of hours but have to swallow having some friday nights out to keep the job going. I see where you’re coming from about the night out money plus perhaps 2 hours wages isn’t worth it but can you not either get back in early on the Saturday or even grab an hour here & there during the week to make it worth doing until you can find something else. Considering folk are talking of us droping into another recession, I’d be inclined to think about it before making my feelings known to the owner of the firm.
