what would you do if one of your trailer brakes locked on in the middle lane of the m6?
would you just sit there holding everyone up?
or would you get off your arse and do a running repair to get yourself to the next services?
Depends who I was working for. Normally I’d cable-tie off the offending brake chamber, although I’m sure Stobart etc wouldn’t thank you for that.
that’s what i’d do harry. but i wouldn’t give a [zb] who i was working for. it would be done anyway.
to me it’s part of the job to do these things.
As Harry, depends who you work for, some would appreciate your self sufficiency, my place would, some others would probably sack you.
At some of the supermarkets they won’t even let you change a bulb…at one they sent me round to see the fitter when i found yet another front cab mount broke on a Scania, the fitter and i had quite a chuckle whilst he searched his jacket pockets for the cab mount and lifting tackle he carries at all times…
There is the other problems though…
You’re instructed to stay in your vehicle if you breakdown in a live lane
So, let’s say you get out, drop the red air line off, hit the shunt and get it to the side, you may end up getting discaplined by the company and possibly prosecuted as a pedestrian on a motorway by the police.
Worse if you get hit, say you were under the trailer cable tying the brake chamber off and another truck hits your truck, you get injured or crushed and can’t claim because you shouldn’t have been there.
If trailer was empty, I’d drag the ■■■■ to the hard shoulder, if it was full, I’d chill on the bunk tbh
i would’nt so much as chill on the bunk but hide
I’d pull the pin and sod off to the next services in the unit and have some KFC.

the look on plods face would make that worthwhile.
Are you not referring to that Renault premium in lane 2 on the 69 southbound just after j5 ■■? I went past the ■■■■■■ after being held up just as they drove it onto the hard shoulder ■■
Unless of course there was 2 yesterday, unlikely ■■
Is this kind of thing not covered in the DCPC?
Easy just jump out and fix the problem then just jump in when you’ve fixed it and drive off.By the way you did say do all this in the middle lane of the M6.

the traffic would be at a crawl due to some dirty lorry driver blocking the middle lane.

They’ve obviously sacked the driver on the basis of that photographic evidence as there’s no sign of anyone underneath trying to fix it.Although to be fair the problem might have been on the nearside where he’s out of view.
