Hiya …rob made it hes on the birkenhead tunnel site now but we’ve sent him through the wallersey

John
Work comes first between 06:30 and 16:30 for me. After that the concrete plant goes without, the Ffarquarrhs don’t get the gravel for their drive and the muck stays onsite.
Sent from my Iphone whilst on a tacho break.

makes me laugh, you all go on about being poorly paid, being treated like [zb], huge reponsibilities yet will put yourselves at risk in getting into work in what Op says impassable conditions, going long way round, setting off for work 2 or 3 hours earlier all coming out of your own pocket,ok years ago the employer may have respected you for doing this and things like this were what xmas bonuses were for ect but todays employer dont give a [zb] your just another driver… are the deliveries you doing really that urgent?
■■■■ right!!!
To the peeps that parks his car at the end of the road - unless you have told your insurance company about your habit in snowy conditions - that car ain’t insured to be there matey - especially not if it’s meant to be on a drive or in a garage…I know a few folk that have been caught out…If it’s nicked you may get away with it, but if damaged and you can’t move it…just be careful - ins companies love a get out like that
WTF would you bust your ■■■ off in poor weather to graft for an employer that pays you £7-9/hour…■■?FFS
so why ask silly qusetions…one firm i worked for…one driver got so drunk at a sunday fate he never made work
on the monday, he phone in monday night and asked what he was doing tuesday… the reply was same as today…
he’d worked 5 years at this very well payed firm but was out of the door for not trying…
when your a driver the job comes first no time for illness… holidays…dentist appointments they all come last…
John
drunk fair play, but trying to come into work drunk■■? surely he was best left at home,
job coming first is complete bollox, if thats your choice fine, however my own health, well being, my family and even my dogs will come before the job… and tbh at the moment i,m only working 4 shifts a week arranged via my boss, my reasons were given which were basically my family comes first and his reply was he understands and agrees…
In part I agree with what you are saying, he shouldn’t have allowed his tyres to get that bad. My point was that just because he had made a mistake, he shouldn’t be harshly punished, and as an employer I was very grateful for his efforts of getting into work when others are quite obviously not so keen to put the effort in
maybe show how gratefull by buying him a set of tyres??
its not about putting effort in its how you are rewarded for doing so!!

All well and good, but if I put a set of tyres on his car, then I have to do it for everyone. Everyone made it into work one way or another so why single him out for what is effectively his own fault? Grateful, yes, endless pot of money, no!
3" of snow - pah.
Only time I have not got into work because of snow was a few years back when I was cycling 15 miles each way. 8" of snow at 5am - call local police who inform me that my road is passable in a 4wd with great care. Told them I was on a bike, plod said forget it the snow plough is stuck at the bottom of Rainow road. Called TM who still complained!!!
I would try to get in.
The moment you hit stuck traffic, call work and let them know.
I think the most important thing is to try.
However, if you know the roads are really bad and go out and have a crash, you will be kicking yourself.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t.
howabout getting the tyres for him through your supplier or buisness at his expense but discounted cost? actions are better then words…

this is what I mean if an employer cannot show their gratitude then why but yourself at risk?
RobRob:
Bunch of [zb] clowns on here!I went to work btw and always had every intention of doing so!
As for growing a pair and manning up, I’d bet my sizeable weekly salary that mine are bigger and that I’m more of a man than 90% of you muppets on here!
Haha ‘bunch of clowns on here’,so whose the biggest clown who asked such a daft question on an internet forum■■?
Should’ve stayed at home,kept yourself warm,burning £20 notes,from that ‘sizeable salary’!
It was a wind up FFS!
Now back at home eating a Ruby and enjoying a Stella, after a long day to the ■■■■ hole that is Merseyside!
I drive a wrecker.
Do you reckon I’d get away with “can’t come in 'cos it’s snowing” ?

Its less of a ■■■■■■■■ than the People’s republic of Bostonia, ■■■■ me what a dump. Anybody still live there who has english as their first language?
Jesus wept, i’ve heard it all now.
Might not make it to work cos there’s a dusting of snow so should i go in?..no bloody wonder the east europeans are in such demand, they must be p’ing 'emselves laughing at our wimp can’t do this moan about that attitude, shape up for crying our loud.
In 35 years i’ve never failed to turn up for work unless i’ve had an authorised day off via holiday or bereavment leave.
Those of you defeated before you start, have you no pride in who you are or what you do?
I doubt I’ll be going to work later because I can’t get my car up the hill I live on.

Your attitude does you credit…
But clearly, you don’t live in the hilly Pennines or any other upland area of the UK!!! Near me the hills are very steep - even a Land Rover would stand no chance thanks to the laws of Gravity and friction or rather lack of friction…
So do you suggest drivers in my position walk to the yard? It can be up to 50 miles away as I do agency stuff… Pehaps I could set off the day before as soon as snow is forecast…
Those of you defeated before you start, have you no pride in who you are or what you do?
its not about pride, i don,t knock days on the head left right and centre ect, I just don,t see why I should risk my own vehicle to get to work in bad conditions, btw i live on garrowby hill, I give my boss the option to send someone out to pick me up in 4x4, his decision not to and understands…
you think all the big bosses on 80k + make it in? or do they just book a working from home day??
its not going to be long before car insurance becomes invalid when you choose to drive in those condition without taking appropriate changes, (winter tyres being one), from a family friend who is a broker,
Good old snow, it fine if your a motorway cruiser, rdc driver. Get down them country lanes on farm work when theres some ice and snow about and a easy job can turn into an extended afternoons giggle.
Also with snow you can be in the yard thinking should I stay or should I go, elect to go and that 3/6 inch in the yard might turn to nothing within 10 miles. So if you eleceted to not go you look a muppet.

In aviation the rule ‘where there is doubt, there is no doubt’ is a good one to copy…
The mugs here are the ones that risk their vehicle, and sometimes life in trying to get to work to deliver something that can wait. Guys, you ain’t heart surgeons…give yourselves a break. If the weather is awful, do the sensible thing and stay in…you need much bigger balls to tell your boss to swivel than you do to struggle in so you can kiss his ■■■…
except…you’ll find he/shes is ‘working from home’ that day!!
RobRob:
We had about 3"s of snow over night.I am due to drive from Boston to Liverpool and back today in a Bulk Tipper.
We live down a country lane that is virtually impassible, although I have to admit, I haven’t actually tried yet.
Would you go to work in jese conditions?
Cheers.
Impassable because of 3"s of snow?
3"s of snow!!! OMG!!!
dramabutton.com/ ← I think that would be suitable soundtrack
On a more serious work: Yeah, please, don’t go to work. That will give a chance of some actual drivers to earn some extra money.
Every time there is snow in Glasgow, my phone is getting hot red from the phone calls from agencies and places I used to work for
del trotter:
Shocking that your boss makes you live down a country lane that becomes impassable with 3" of snow…oh no, hang on that’s your choice.MTFU and grow some.
Nice one But even if the road is indeed impassable there is allways a solution to the OP: If you are to scrared to drive, go to the main road and call a cab.
dle1uk:
no one as asked the op what vehicle he as, how long the lane, hills ect, just the usual insults and willy waving…
Well, why should they ask him? I have my car suitable for the place I live. Unlike my neighbours I drive up the hill with no problem, and then down the hill I can stop safely. The all season tires costed me 4 pounds per each more than I would have to pay for summer ones…
