Would you go to work today?

We had about 3"s of snow over night.

I am due to drive from Boston to Liverpool and back today in a Bulk Tipper.

We live down a country lane that is virtually impassible, although I have to admit, I haven’t actually tried yet.

Would you go to work in jese conditions?

Cheers.

Edited to add…I posted this out of interest as to who would, and who wouldn’t go to work! I always had every intention of going in and did!

Too many jobs worth haters on here! :unamused:

I am, but if you or anybody else would prefer not to go in it’s fine by me.

Sod the Dunkirk spirit, stay under the duvet and let me have a clear run home.

W

Yeah, why not?

i would, whats jese about it?

If I was you, the first thing I would do is learn to drive, then man up and go to work

3" of snow?

WOW, let’s close the country down because you can’t be bothered to go to work :unamused:

I would and I am in work now, and out of all our drivers I think I live the closest so gotta make an effort.

I would. As a matter of pride, always make it in. Set off a couple of hours early if need be to be sure. :sunglasses:

i would its only a bit of ■■■■■■■ snow

mate if you can,t get out you cant get out! bollox to all this be a man about it ect will they all chip in if you end up smashing your car■■?

last year I could,nt get off drive cos of snow and i did,nt even try to dig out… phone call to tm told him he could send a company vehicle which we have 4x4,s or i,m staying at home, stayed at home in nice and warm…

I’ll always try and get in. I spent 4 hrs trying all routes into Exeter last year, when Telegraph Hill went ■■■■ up. Had to give up eventually. Then after 8 hrs the boss rang and said the road was now open. I went in and drove to Sheffield for them. So yeah…Try!

Got to give it a go. Give yourself plenty of time and take it easy.

Of course, paid by the Hour and paid to do a job, you either do that job or some Skijobthief will do it for less.

The snow was forecast, we all knew it was coming, so why didn’t you leave your car at the end of the lane so you could walk to it? I have done that for years as I live down a narrow steep lane that does become impassable when it snows.
In another life before I started truck driving I had a 42 mile journey to work and in 7 years I made it to work every day, was late once due to the snow. When I arrived at work other people were ringing in saying they could not get in due to the bad weather and were taking the day off, I had passed the homes of these people on my way to work and they were shocked when I answered the phone and told them the roads were clear!
I should say that I lived in the Yorkshire Dales for my early life and snow was just something that we had to live with.

& take a shovel with you ,they are not hard to use . 3" snow ffs :unamused:

If you were at work and the conditions were as you have stated would you stay at work or go home■■?

We are all set free.
All Shelfs filled up in every Store, and a Handfull called in,just in Case.
:arrow_right: thats the Good Thing when you work for a Famous Brand :grimacing:

3"s isnt snow, its like a bit of water with some of the remains of mother natures fun time she had in her bed.

this is snow

understand this, however how will your insurance respond if the vehicle was nicked/damaged ect?? i,m afraid its self preservation if you like… I know a guy who I used to work with, we only worked in warehouse at the time, but he was driving to work in similar conditions and got wiped out by a double decker bus, rest of his life in a wheelchair and he tried to get to work so he did,nt let the company down??

a mates dad worked for a major removal firm (similar to north east seaside town) got himself into work, again similar conditions jobs were cancelled but he decided to clean back of truck out, put ramp down started to walk up slipped and landed on the edge damaging his knee/leg and hip, after 12 mths he was still not back at work and he was then dismissed as it was considered he was unfit for work, employer wouldmnt pay sick pay so he only got SSP, and then couldnt even claim as employer closed ranks and said he was doing something was told not to do as jobs were cancelled he should not have got into the back of the truck, nice way to be rewarded for 20+ years of service??

you can defect a vehicle for a broken light or something minor and not take it out on the road, i think weather conditions should also be a factor for refusing to take a vehicle out…

This.
Sent from my Iphone drinking coffee, watching fanny walk past as I’m being loaded at some roadworks in Oxford.

Shocking that your boss makes you live down a country lane that becomes impassable with 3" of snow…oh no, hang on that’s your choice.

MTFU and grow some.
