Just gave up bus driving job to start hgv work. I have lasted one week. This is the worst job ever. Can’t believe I wanted to do this. I thought bus driving was bad but this is much worse. It’s a complete nightmare. Gonna have to bite the bullet and get back on the buses. Rant over.
Don’t be hasty. Unfortunately, newbies have to take whatever they can get their hands on. Takes a while to separate the wheat from the chaff. Give it time, you’ll find a good job
Do you want to expand on why it’s the worst job ever, or shall we use our imagination?

Ones mans wheat is another mans chaff in this industry.
I also came from a bus the coach driving background and now drive HGV’s I absolutely love it in comparison. If the job you’ve done for your first week isn’t for you try a different aspect. There are lots of different hgv jobs to choose from
You lasted a whole week? well thats plenty of time to decide its the worst job ever and chuck it.
Least your not hasty or anything
Did you expect the cream jobs right off the bat? 90% of us started with all the ■■■■ everyone else didnt want to do. You work your way to the better stuff.

Don’t bring logic into this discussion!

would hazard a guess at some kind of food service
come on pal tell us more
is it the lorry , the boss , the handballin , the rules , the finding places , the collegues
dont give up tho …
the first 25 years are always the worst
Imagination it is then, the OP wasn’t kidding when they said rant over!
Go on tippers. Just like the buses, you don’t have to bother with loading or unloading the vehicle. With powered tailgates on some, you don’t even have to get out the cab anymore. Better than mauling with other stuff for the same money.
Many of the loads a truck carries ‘don’t answer back’, or claim compensation either…

+1 I’d never go back to buses/coaches
Taken from another thread turns out stobbies acadamy and job wasn’t all that afterall

I have just used the “stobart training academy” to qualify from class 2 to class 1. And the rubbish posted on here is simply laughable. It simply is an excellent facility for anyone wishing to gain their hgv licences. How anyone can find a flaw in it is beyond me, unless you haven’t used it and are simply following the truknet uninformed opinion. with regards to gaining your licence, its a dedicated training and examining facility that’s very thorough and good value for your hard earned. Clearly its popular to knock it as it is run by stobarts. I would recommend it to any aspiring hgv drivers.cheers
All that proves is he took his test with stobarts.

I’ll second that statement !
Like quite a few others I too have PSV and HGV licenses. I’ll tell you this, driving a bus was the only driving job where I frequently wanted to ‘punch the load’.
