If they’re good enough I’ll pay the whole bill

Wil je een grote of een kleine Heineken, meneer?

Rooney was ■■■■■ last night, he’s reputation doesn’t befit him (well…  ).

I shouldn’t worry about it to much, a couple more games and their coming home anyway.

I heard, when they got off the plane, they told the Pilot “To keep the Engine Running”

England are like women and horses - unpredictable!

I personally hate the false patriotism, only flying the England flag when eleven grown men are kicking a plastic sphere around.

The real joke though, is people proudly fly the England flag when driving around in a foreign built truck (or car).

I suppose I got away with it, my wagons were built in Leyland.

How is it a joke? Some people are proud of their country and where they’re from. How about those who “proudly fly” the Scotish, Irish, Northern Ireland and Welsh flags from there trucks or cars?

that’s so when they park in asda (other parking places available) they can spot the location of their transport.
When abroad the only thing I’ve noticed the English tend to be proud of is how ■■■■■■ they can get

I’ve seen many Germans and folk from Scandinavian countries drinking the English under the tables and being a pain in the arse whilst on holiday too. Just this year I went to Antuiga and the place was full of yanks getting ■■■■■■ as newts for the good old US of A. It ain’t just the English.

Its not just flying flags its the whole standard of behavior of people that has gone downhill , i went on holiday recently with my gf , and we went out for a meal in a spanish restaurant we made the effort to change and wear smart outfits , i wore my suit , and she wore a dress and nice jewellery , we sat dwn at the table and in walks in a lad and his gf straight off the beach him ■■■■■■■ just wearing trunks , that imo shows a lack of respect to the owner , not bothering to make the effort , the majority of customers were dressed in just shorts and t shirts , surely its not to much effort to go back to your hotel and get changed b4 you go out?

Bit I bet more people looked at you thinking your crackers dressed in a suit in the middle of summer by choice lol . But do get what you mean about no t shirt in McDonald’s tho

It’s a real pity that displaying the St Georges flag is now associated with chavs etc.

In Holland where my wife is from, it’s the total opposite. The country is very patriotic and totally gets behind the national team when they play in the World Cup. For weeks now, the shops have been selling various items in Orange (the national colour), including houshold food items like biscuits, cakes, and ice cream. When Holland plays a match, all the various towns totally shut down as every one crowds around a tv wearing orange tee shirts, wigs, and the Dutch flag stamped on their cheeks. Virtually every house has a steel holster screwed to the outside where people plug in a proper flagpole displaying the national flag. The towns nearly all have a market square of some sort with bars situated around and the town councils erect giant screens so everyone (including children) can watch together. They have oompah bands playing to encourage the crowds, and everytime Holland scores, they start playing in celebration.

The main thing though, is that if Holland loses, they just shrug their shoulders and commiserate with each other. There is no throwing of chairs through bar or shop windows. Maybe in big cities like Rotterdam or Amsterdam you might get some hooliganism, but hardly ever in the general towns. From what I’ve seen myself anyway.

I really wish England still had that national patriotism, and people were not ashamed to display it publicly like the cloggies do.

Thats how it should be citycat ,the dutch are really into their football violance though m8 ,show them another teams fans and its not tea and biscuits, they are well up for a scrap :frowning:

I’ve no doubt that Holland has its hooligan element, but in general there always seems to be a nice patriotic atmosphere in the country when the World Cup is on. The missus is currently there and she’ll definitely be sat in front of the telly in her orange tee shirt on Wednesday, when the Netherlands plays Australia.

This is not in reference to your missus citycat.Does anyone else think a fully grown adult looks a bit of a saddo wearing a football top (pro footballers excluded), be it club or country shirts. The cherry on top is seeing a middle aged bloke with a players name printed on the shirt too.
