I had a telephone interview yesterday with Virginia, I have to sort 2 days DCPC out and I’ve got a job waiting(not sure I want it though), he states that you are supposed to have 1 day DCPC per year upto 2014, theres me thinking it didn’t matter as long as you had it before the cut off date in 2014!! However, during the interview he was saying I have to have an irish bank account and & address(which they will supply)! are there any pitfalls to this? will I lose out transferring to sterling? Any help appreciated.
You’ll be vulnerable to currency fluctuation on a monthly basis. £ goes up vs €, less pay in your pocket.

So you know all these ‘loads of blokes who would take it’ do you? You obviously know whats on offer with pay & conditions, you know how much all these people are willing to work for do you? No you don’t! So until you know the facts keep your stupid comments to yourself!
you can get an irish bank account online at ulster bank.
it’ll be a northern irish account registered to your home address. but you can pay into it from the south, as ulster bank operate in both the north and the south. and you don’t lose out on the exchange rate, you get it at the actual bank rate, not the high street take the cream off the top high street rate.

I applied for the Job as they look a good firm to work for, good kit and seem to look after their drivers. However, the advert didn’t mention the pay rates therefore I had to apply to find this out, now I know whats on offer I do not want to lose any money swapping between euro/sterling!
I was thinking that as I noticed your post Fileep! Is the job tramping or shifts! It looked like shifts going by their ad? Was considering applying but it’s a long way from London! :lol

The job I was offered was uk tramping with occasional international, it sounded like you had to work your way up to get regular international work, which is only fair. Only thing I’m unsure of is having an Irish bank account and being paid in euro’s, also not sure if I can afford to take it.
1€=0.80pence= -20% .

Put like that!
Not great money with a 20% more or less loss!

unless i’ve missed something we don’t know how many euros they’re offering
Going by the average I’ve seen on an Irish truck site! It’s about a €100-€130 a day! Or £80-£104 a day sterling! The lower amount being the most common! Some pay €70 a day on international work!
They have been around a long time and know the game inside out and pay a wage reflecting the current economic climate, but the bonus is ,good plant ,good work, good t+c,and as we all know the Irish always have an extra boat to get too.thats just a fact!
What is your situation and priority, a lifestyle or premium money ■■?
I happily tramped for years, but now I’m on the trolleys through family health commitments, not choice.
If you’re unattached, and not too bad debt wise, I could think of worse companies to work for from the info on here.
3kids ,1 10, 1’3and one 2 months old, waiting for an operators licence to come through, hope it does .yeah I have my responsibilities . And if I get permission to run trucks I guess I’ll have a lot more but it’s all I know,as for ■■■■■■ transport they would be one of the better outfits.

He is only putting food on the table for one though unless a plastic legohead biscuit barrel eats more than I thought.
