Hi Pete, just out of curiosity, did you get redundancy or was it just enough’s enough ?
I have just got redundancy after nearly 20 years and have just sorted out my resettlement stuff. Also got an interview and assessment in the next month with a certain Haulier in a red and green livery…Don’t want to say the name in case i get shouted at

You obviously have a thing about uniforms then
hi pete, roadways are advertising at southampton jobcentre. zero hrs contract and £7.75 per hr, they have their own agency
I used to work for Roadways. It’s a nice steady job to come out to mate, you should be ok, but put some cash aside for early months (jan - mar)
All they want on a road test is a nice steady drive, nice and slow and safe mate, like your test, heights are either 13’6 or 14’6 depending on box, 14’6 will have stripes on the top and probably say high cube or 9’6 on it. There are 10’3 boxes, but they’re rare and usually refers.
good luck
Just like to say congrats on the job front and thanks to all you boys and girls who go places and do things for queen and country which most of us couldn’t even dream of 3 cheers are in order to you all!!!
Theres a saying us lads use …( When the Rich wage war it,s the Poor that die)

No worries mate, Roadways is the job that slowed me down, used to do general and multi-drop and airfreight, went there, had a great guy take me out for my drive and another great guy show me the ropes the 1st day, and all they said - repeatedly - was “slow down - there’s no rush - it’s not a race” etc…
Took a while to get the multi-drop mentality out of me, but it’s now 1 of the best feelings when you see people running around like headless chickens, jumping queues etc, and you just chill, laptop comes out as soon as you’re at a dock or rail head
If you feel you’re driving too slow, then you’re doing it just right, just imagine you’ve got a 9’6 square tank 3/4 full of liquid on and you’ll be fine, nice smooth ride and you’ll have a job - and not a bad job either tbh.
If they got rid of the 0 hour contract, I’d have still been there (well, either that or sacked lol) or would go back.
Most of their stuff is getting on, don’t think you’ll be driving 1 of those new Volvo’s or MAN’s, you’ll be in a 53 - 55 plate, and some of the trailers still run on leaves with no abs, ratchet hand brakes, drum brakes etc
Once again Wayne Thanks for the advice the more the better, as we used to say in the Barmy Army. Im a sponge for info,. Im Not cab Happy ill drive the biggest bag of rubbish on the fleet, but it WILL be clean in side when ive had day in it.any info wang it my way buddy info is knowledge.
