Bit of an update, a local HGV parts factor I spoke with did get a visit from someone needing a plate that matches the remnants left in my steps plus a mudguard and rear light cluster, seems the motor could be fairly local to where the incident took place, just got to wait and see if plod will look into things a bit deeper with the new info.
This guy has got to be a plank to order replacement stuff locally!!!

To be honest, to have done what he did in the 1st place confirms he was a plank anyway and a very thick one at that, maybe a long distance traveller
Sorry to sound dumb but if he finished up with his trailer wiping your cab out how did his front number plate end up in your steps and how did his unit end up needing at wheel guard and cluster ?

Misunderstanding your story clearly ?
That’s what I was thinking!!!
How can his front number plate be wedged in the steps unless he’s T-boned you??
Well confused with the story!!!
Not denying it didn’t happen just trying to paint a picture it my head

I think he meant rear plate, would also explain how the mudguard and rear light got buggered as they’re all together.

I haven’t followed it from the first post, it seems a strange encounter, maybe the other driver has also made a police report and they will be compared for us.
I can’t see any mention of a “front” number plate, just that he didn’t have one, which at first I read as quite odd, but then if you take the OP view as legit (not saying that it isn’t) then he wouldn’t see a number plate because it was already lodged in his step, rather than still on the back of the lorry.

He said it didn’t have a plate on the trailer, not that the unit one was missing.

Yeah but he says in his first post “the low life had no rear plate”
I’m not nit picking and I don’t disbelieve the story at all I just like to picture these things in my head lol

As I read it, he said the trailer had no plate on it, so assuming it’s an Artic or drawbar it should have had 3 plates, still leaving a front and one on the rear of the prime mover, which is what I think ended up on his step, and would also explain having to buy a rear light and mudguard.

Met the mother of all idiots today, I’d like to call the idiot something else but it would probably be censored.
it would be censored so you can swear till your ■■■■ fall off , you can say words like [zb] and [zb] and [zb] just as long as you spell them the way god intended the little fat non swearing bloke will catch them and swap them for this [zb] , see it works . i quite like it myself its a good way of venting off you should try it , as long as you preview it and make sure the non swearing bloke aint gone for a [zb] and missed it you’ll be fine …

Probably one of the “old school” who don’t recognise speed limits and think that if you’re not doing 56mph through a school playground at 3:30pm then you’re a not a real lorry driver.
I know a lot of your posts are like fishing SCF, ie.looking for a bite , but I can’t see how you associate "old school " drivers who have done a bit, with the view you give, it’s more like the “new age” type trucker, who is maybe too numb to realise that you don’t drive a truck in the same way as you do a car, of which there are many!.. anyway glad to oblige on your bite

Or you could look at it that the newer drivers are brought up with Digi tachos, 40 mph speed limits and ■■■■■■■ VOSA , so thats how they drive, as opposed to Mr “been there seen it done it, I remember when we ran on two booksetc. etc etc”.
Whoever the driver is they should have their licence taken away if its as the OP has said.

Agree with the last bit of your post mate, and yeh there are a lot of bad long-time drivers. I was just puzzled by the fact that SCF jumped to the conclusion that it was a more experienced driver,so being one of the" two book" types you mention felt I had to defend my corner. Still don’t get why 40limits, digis, and VOSA make you drive a truck like a car though
if you cant get the reg always try and see a trailer number as for example dhl run some white units and blue trailers and there sometimes numbered by the depot type e.g. jlr5123 (jaguar landrover contract )
