I agree with you.
He was keeping it lit,.
155mph is on the limiter of all German cars, jags are 158mph, bet they didn’t catch him till he slowed down, fully load traffic car struggles to 140mph.

Do we take it you were never invited into the special handshake club?

I dont need to be given the special handshake, I do policing for a living … I am merely stating, would a trucker who has also seen horrific incidents in their lives … use that as excuse for speeding … I assure you, driving a car at 200Kph, doesn’t do it for me … it is purely to get to a scene asap … thats with red and blue lights flashing with sirens … never would I do 115 mph in a private car …
People get away with worse. The guy does an important job which he would lose if he was banned. If he did it again though, that might be a different matter.
While I agree with you he did play upon his background in order for a leinient sentence, there is a rule for them and another for the rest.
Dont hate the player, hate the game.

He already did. 6 points on his licence.

I completely agree, however, I would not allow him to be let off, and it seemed the cops in Wales felt the same.
Years ago I was going out with an A+E nurse, she liked fast cars and was caught at 120mph, she got off with it with only a £200 fine all because she occasionally did call out as she was a a head of the unit or something.
I have a friend who is and A&E nurse.
Once in the early hours after a long shift and eager to get home, on a clear road she put her foot into it (O.K. not 115mph but in the 80/90’s)
When out of the darkness came the disco lights to which she pulled right over.
One flatfoot came up to her window and took one look at her in her scrubbs and shouted back at the other one driving, “it’s alright, she’s one of us”.
Bidded Sarah a good evening, and everyone went on their way.
It happens.
Sets the bar really, gives everyones lawyer good material.
I know someone who is a police officer and years ago they were off duty and were caught doing just over 40 in a 30…
lets just say nothing was done about it
Six points, and I’m getting 3 for doing 60 on a 3 lane road at 2am in the car.
Double the speed, double the points I guess.
Its just not fair, but the bigger boys on here found that out long ago.
Calculating all the factors in I think his penalty is fair, 6points £635 for driving at 116mph + the stress up to the court case + the extra costs he will now face in insurance and have to drive his car like in that film ‘Teabagging Miss Daisy’ for the foreseeable.
I’m fairly positive that if me or one of my loved ones needed an ambulance I’d want this bugger at the wheel.
Kept his job kept his ability to help save lives so jobs a good un.
Probably different if he was copper but then they are the third least respected of the emergency services, possibly 4th forgot about the AA.

+1
no biggie. instant ban for over 100 mph…hardly news as theres masses doing similar speeds in the uk every day.
its only mentioned as the usual media leeches make it a story as his job has nothing at all to do with toodling round at 116mh on the a55.
it only gives his lawyer a load of pish to throw in as an excuse.
obviously the judge ignored it and smacked his wrists anyway…if they limited cars to 70 then all we would have is constant rear enders with everyone on the cruise and not paying attention somewhat similar to the constant crashes daily with trucks.
it goes wthout saying the dude would be switched on and no danger to anyone else. another reason why it would be a better country if adolf hadnt came 2nd as our decent roads would be limit free.

But were they for driving in a ridiculous manner or For doing 36 in a 30 at 2am? Or maybe for using a phone. Or even 2 bald tyres, maybe having sdlp insurance and was collared on his way to work? Who knows?

I recall letting of an officer doing 70 in a 50 zone in London … because he was one of us … admittedly he did used to work our patch …
Generally, advice would be given if a uniform was seen ie ambulance fire, I even allowed Truckers off with a valid excuse … why, because I know you guys work ■■■■ hard hours and are often tired and just want to get home … maybe he failed the attitude test. That’s how I judge people… that 8/10 decides if they are reported or blind eye turned.

When I worked in the prisons, I’d often car share with the officers. Let’s just say that strange things happen when people see those epaulettes!
