Women Truck Drivers?

Im a female truck driver, have been since passed class 1 in 1995, passed my car test 5 days after my 17th bday, had a BSA 250 Starfire when I was 15, in 1993 I bought a 1977 Kawasaki Z100 and passed my bike test. My first truck driving job was for a SKIN YARD. …handballing 2000 sheep skins on at 6am every morning and then rubbing salt into them by hand until it was time to go pick up the cow hides. … Stuck that for 28 months then drove a concrete mixer. … Someone on this thread commented that us lady drivers are slow. …My 8 legger Scania mixer used to fly down M3 easy doing 100mph with number 1 fuse pulled. …
I’ve been on artics since 2000 driving almost everything. . Fridges, Containers, Tippers, Double deckers and Curtain Siders. …Since feb this year I’ve been tramping not the odd night out im away all week on a curtain sider. . …I sometimes muck up reversing, usually the easiest of places to reverse into. The awkward blind sides ,I have no problem with usually not even needing to shunt. I complete all of the work required in my job, I travel 140 miles on a sunday night to work away all week every week and max out 3 15’s and the rest 13hr shifts then 140 miles home friday night or Saturday morning if on a 6.
Im always hearing the female driver jibes even after almost 20 years in the job, its boring now…
I think its time us drivers got together and did something about the foreign driver’s who come here taking our jobs when they have never trained nor passed a test they just buy their licences for peanuts on black markets in their own countries and like to bragg about doing so to us knowing how expensive it is here to train and get a class 1 licence. …II am sick of hearing when I get to a site how the shunter has had to move a trailer on a bay so the warehouse staff can unload it because a foreign driver couldn’t reverse it onto the bay, or how when 2 foreign driver’s pull onto site the one that drives in jumps out for the other to reverse onto the bay.
DVSA are saying that in the next 5 years 44,000 British drivers will retire! Unless we try to do something about the incompetent foreign drivers working here the British Trucker will be just a memory. We need to stick together and make The British HGV test mandatory to all who wish to drive for British firms. …Yer before you start slating me I know there are some foreign driver’s who have genuinely passed a HGV test. …I think you all know the ones I’m talking about. …

Knowhere near enough of the fairer ■■■ imho. There should be thousands of you, stop staying home and raising pointless new humans without any real fighting chance of a decent future and help us counteract this dreadful plague of eastern resource competitors washing up on our shores for gawd sake.

Perhaps, in light of this comment, it should be “lady drivers are morons”. Running a bit over the limit is one thing, 100mph in a truck is just plain dumb. If it’s true, of course.

100mph? What would the gear ratio have to be to even get to that speed? Can’t see it happening myself. The rods would be coming through the side of the block at the sort of revs needed to get anywhere near that speed. Imagine trying to do 100mph in 3rd gear in your average diesel car - it just wouldn’t happen as the rev band simply doesn’t go high enough on a diesel engine.

Could it be she meant 100kph■■?

And your point dieseldog999 is…?

too many to be listing,id have thought they were self explanatory if you read between the lines, that way it saves me listing them for another post to get removed…but id still love to know why they always have the plod wifey driving,is it orders from above ,or what, because its definitely the norm if you start looking for them in the plodcar…quite often in ambulances as well,so there has to be a reason for them to be made to drive all the time.

Don’t worry about The Dog; by his own admission he’s 40 years behind the rest of the civilised world.

excuse me,30 years behind if you don’t mind,
I moved here because I cant stand living in the uk now the way its went down the toilet in a bundle of ways.cameras,pc brigade, imports etc…im happy over here back in 1980,and looking forward to returning everytime im over in England,im looking forward to getting off the ferry again…not when in euroland, just in England(and Scotland) in case someone moans,as im Scottish anyway.

i wouldn’t think it impossible , i had a foden retrofitted with an overdrive box that was good for 90+mph , also an erf e14 that would reach the upper 80s when the limiter " broke " from time to time .

Deisel dog-polis wifey drives so big strong polis man can jump out and wrestle villain to the ground, meanwhile polis wifey fills out paperwork, simples

OMG…Micky Skirt…don’t know wether it was him or a copy. One of the women fork/drivers was standing on the loading dock with a dazed look on her face. She just said, that’s the weirdest conversation I’ve ever had with a…she then turned and stumbled away. The times he was on site we’d try to get round to the dock for the fun.
As for women drivers, have met the good, the bad and the… Met one in a Glaxo factory once, who had to be escorted through the village by the police after she got stuck on a roundabout. Then said she wasn’t able to reverse onto the dock so could someone help her. :unamused: When I was shunting had two complete opposites working for the same firm. One would laugh and joke with us, we’d do everything we could to turn her motor round quickly. The other younger one was so condescending and arrogant we would just stand and watch after being told our help was NOT needed.
Was once in Teesport loading, five of us went to get our notes at the checkers office. As we came round the stacks there in front of us was about 6-8 dockers rolling sheets up. They then loaded them on to 2 Peterborough Heavy Haulage motors, we just stood there stunned. Then out of the office came two women drivers dressed in shorts and T shirts. No more explanation needed but we had plenty to say to the dockers.

I drive …my TM mad by refusing to do any job that involves :-

a) working more than 8 hours a day
b) getting my hands dirty
c) anything that may cause me to break a nail
d) wearing a hard had, as that may spoil my hair do
e) driving a Renault

driving a Renault, I can understand that, drove a few in the past, intense dislike of them

Lol, I don’t even remember writing that…either this is an old topic or I’m losing me marbles

I remember it. ■■■■■■ myself the first time I read it too!

Maybe ‘plod wifeys’ are just better drivers…

So, I think we can make a pretty good assumption from this thread that there are some decent drivers and some not so good, no matter what ■■■ we all are? I don’t care who drives, as long as they leave the unit I get clean and fuelled up

Except it clearly isn’t. Seems women ‘truckers’ are just as good at the RDC waiting room economy with the truth as blokes are… 100mph in a mixer…
