Witham to bristol routes?

Any suggestions on the best way from witham (essex) to emery road in bristol? Going in a rigid with 2am start, have to be there before 6:30am and back. Not sure about the height.

Dont have truckers atlas with me so cant really check myself

Cheers

No height restrictions, take the M4, exit at the M32 for Bristol, don’t follow city centre, but take the ring road that takes you towards Keynsham.
Then at the end of the ring road ,turn right to Brislington, you will see a garden center on the left, Emery road is right after the park and ride.
McDonalds open 24 hours on Emery road.
On the home bound, exit the M4 at Chippenham truckstop, good food there, junction 17.
Snack vans on Brislington industrial estate for bacon butties or a full fry up.

Only one obvious way to Bristol from witham . Come off the m32 1st junction follow the bypass all the way then turn right on the bath road to the McDonald’s then turn right into emery rd . No bridges . It’s amazing what 1 min on google maps can find

JESUS  :unamused:

Cheers, yeah, sorry, did not have access to a pc or a map, so posted and appreciate your time answering simple questions

You managed to post on here though :unamused: Google is your best friend :stuck_out_tongue:

true, from mobile

another option is using M4 → A46 → A420-> A4174, AA shows no bridges on this one either

will take Chester’s option though

thanks again

Maybe a weight limit in village before you join 4174 . Sign on ring points truck via m32 iirc

Oh ok, cheers

No weight limits that way but Chester’s route is the easiest and simplest

out of curiosity - what about going all the way from m32 to a4032 and bath road?

this is what the satnav picks as the “easiest” route

easiest way is m4 junction 18 and down a46-a420 will bring you out on a4174 ring road follow signs for bath/keynsham and turn right at hicks gate i live 2 vmin from emery road and use this route in the artic to get to keynsham

Take toby1234 directions I live here just off the A4174 yeah you can go jn 18 then A46 A420 then pick up the ring road but you have toghill and the village etc so wage what you gain in time is only small

Blooming Hectors Toby !
He’s only in Bristol for an hour & you’ve got him eating about 10,000 calories [emoji1]

Thanks all, used m32 and the ring without any issues. The ring road obviously has been designed by a r/a fan. Hit some rush our traffic though on the way back. Also later on was parked up on m4 near swindon due to an rta for almost two hours

The designer of the ring road needs tying to the guy who sets the traffic lights… and throwing in the harbour.

The ring road should never have been built .
It has only increased traffic , destroyed green belt and encouraged development .

all those new houses around emersons green are easy commutes by bike to bristol , yate , bath, kingswood and even south wales .
Instead of ring road they should have developed a congestion charge and reduced speed limits across bristol ,

And start sending kids to their nearest school , not one across town that mummy thinks is a bit better

Another junction on the M4 would help alleviate the amount of traffic from that damned ring road on/off the M32 quite easily I would have thought. All this development can’t go on though. We will reach a point where there are too many houses and not enough growing land. Might be sooner than we think.

The Government are in fact proposing another motorway exit for Bath, plans for new housing and businesses in the area.
Junction A, in between the Bath exit at Tormaton and the M 32.
NOT sure why Bristol only has a bypass on the Keynsham side and not one on the Western side to bypass that dreaded A 37 and Whitchurch.
Batheaston bypass is waste of money, as Bath gets gridlocked around the fire station and access to A 36.
NIMBIES again are objecting to a parl and ride in the meadow fields by Batheaston of which reduce congestion for the city.
Nimbies say the view from their houses will be spoilt.
No doubt a rare spotting of the frog, newt or bird, will make the lawyers rich arguing over that.

They are building some kind of bypass around the A38 near the old Town’s Talk towards the A370 but don’t think it’ll link to the A37 unfortunately.
