When they build the Batheaston bypass they missed a golden opportunity to solve most of the congestion problem in Bath on the A36 approach/passed the fire station. Connect it to the A36 just south of Bathampton. All the (heavy ) traffic to and from the south coast would have bypassed Bath. But they let the nimbys in Bathampton win…

Bristol only has a bypass on the Keynsham side and not one on the Western side to bypass that dreaded A 37 and Whitchurch.They are building some kind of bypass around the A38 near the old Town’s Talk towards the A370 but don’t think it’ll link to the A37 unfortunately.
Yes, that will relieve both the traffic on Winterstoke Road and where my brother Ernie comes from (local reference there). Will be a bit of a climb up to the A38 but there’s no getting around that. It’s effect should prove interesting. Ah. I can see from google where it’s coming out. Never go that way.
In my opinion, Bath residents are idiots, they do not want the proposed new park and ride in Batheaston which would reduce congestion and pollution from stationary cars, they also stopped a bus service that would operate on a tram line, but residents objected to that, when the local media filmed residents moaning about the new tram line, the fact was it was in an area where fly tippers dumped rubbish and nobody used the woodlands.
