I never had a Sunstrip as such, not one of those Plastic stick on jobs. But in the '70’s a lot of people, me included, whilst passing through or in Greece or Turkey bought the obligatory beaded sort of Sunblind. A lot of cut glass beads of various colours, some metal figures or animals all combined with Cotton strips hanging down, across the Winscreen top. I got quite used to it and thought it was the Dogs ■■■■■■■■, but if my Wife ever came with me she used to go Potty. " all that bloody Clickerty Clacking, it’s driving me Mad.
I had one and the beads had little crosses under need after about 2 years only crosses hardly any beads left.lol

Not a lorry, but a 1.6 ■■■■■■ estate I bought new in 1986 with my CB Handle on the sun strip.
Cheers Dave.
Right Dave you “smooth dude” Q1 did you ever have all those lights switched on at the same time? Q2 If “yes” did the engine throw the fan belt off ? Cheers Dennis.

The best one I saw was " WHALEOILBEEFHOOKED " I had them but no writing on
cheers Johnnie
When calculators first came out, everyone had fun asking questions about numbers, then when you turned it upside down, it made a word ( we’ll sort of!) I think ‘shell oil’ was one, but can’t remember the numbers. Turning the iPad round doesn’t help - it follows me!
I seem to remember that ‘whale oil beef oct’ was something similar. Certainly the wife of one of the lads in Saudi had this as a party trick and after several ‘siddiqis’ she thought it was the funniest thing in the world to get some unsuspecting bloke to read the words!
Happy days.
Schoolboy one was 5318008 BOOBIES
John
John, I think you’ll find the shell oil one was; 710 77345.also did 710 0553 whic was Esso oil. Also used by music band “the Hollies” as an album name was 5317704.shame the computer no.4 isn’t quite the same "H "shape as the old calculators.

No Dennis, two were spotlights which worked with main beam, and the bottom two were fog lights. I did quite a bit of night driving for several years, but half the time main beam wasn’t used ,as I was constantly meeting other vehicles. Have had spotlights on most of my vehicles, including Cibie Oscars on
my MK2 Cortina in the late 1960’s when the dynamo wouldn’t drive the lot at once.
Cheers Dave.
‘I’M A VOLVO TRUCKER’ here on my faithful old F7 Had to trim it up a bit so I could see under/through it, but hey-ho, I thought it looked great . Regards Chris
Drove a flash looking F88 290 for a guy, that had a sun-visor ( not a sun strip) with “Trans - Continental” emblazoned across it, Both the lorry, or him, had never ever been out the country…a trifle embarrassing really…
hi, guys thought you might like this one.
Just spotted on an old truck picture,a windscreen sun-strip which reads "On The 8th Day God Created Truckers "
I found this very amusing and thought it might just add a few smiles it being just Monday.
have a good week one and all.

Chris
