Just thinking about the sun strips from the 80s like silkolene ,bandag, volvo oil man ,coalite,Isle of Man TT races, what others were there ? Are you still sitting on one ?
I had a A1 Truckers Club one
Traforo del Frejus
Was a popular one with the “01” brigade
I had a Star Truckstop Lesmahagow one.
For a few years I did 4-5 nights out in a daycab 7.5 tonner, I bought the sunstrip with the intention of putting it in my first motor with a bed in, no idea why thou, but as it was a few years till I got a sleeper cab, by the time I got one I had lost the strip.
Really gutted about that to this day.
I think all the volvo oil man strip users had a gallon on the near side step !! I’ve got a ERF Supertrucks blue & white one .
The best one I saw was " WHALEOILBEEFHOOKED " I had them but no writing on
cheers Johnnie
International Rescue ,whale Tanks ■■ Edbro setting the pace ,■■■■■■■ turbo (with the swirl) ,I’ve got a Harsh on ,Radio one roadshow .
LESS TRUCKING ABOUT,stena lines…,i took the top left bit off the T and stuck it in the middle and removed the R in the word trucking,it only lasted a week the bloke waving you in the boat clicked on and was told to take it out or put it back to normal
Not a lorry, but a 1.6 ■■■■■■ estate I bought new in 1986 with my CB Handle on the sun strip.
Cheers Dave.
I had one advertising some sort of fuel but can’t remember what it was!
Pete.
Radio 1 275/285,
You could buy the plain green strips (I think blue was available too) in a roll.
Then get some white numberplate letters and stick em on to requirements.

Radio 1 275/285,
Did they not do a Roadshow one too?
There were loads around Stoke with “Spitfire Squadron” on
when i was younger and dafter i too a sunstrip , michelin britains best truck tyre and snipped the tyre of the end and finished up with michelin over the drivers side screen and britains best truck on the passenger side . some time later i was amazed to see my lorry on the cover of commercial motor , britains best truck was the feature in that edition .dave

When calculators first came out, everyone had fun asking questions about numbers, then when you turned it upside down, it made a word ( we’ll sort of!) I think ‘shell oil’ was one, but can’t remember the numbers. Turning the iPad round doesn’t help - it follows me!
I seem to remember that ‘whale oil beef oct’ was something similar. Certainly the wife of one of the lads in Saudi had this as a party trick and after several ‘siddiqis’ she thought it was the funniest thing in the world to get some unsuspecting bloke to read the words!
Happy days.

‘Star Truckstop’ I had on Richard Lawsons.
I never had a Sunstrip as such, not one of those Plastic stick on jobs. But in the '70’s a lot of people, me included, whilst passing through or in Greece or Turkey bought the obligatory beaded sort of Sunblind. A lot of cut glass beads of various colours, some metal figures or animals all combined with Cotton strips hanging down, across the Winscreen top. I got quite used to it and thought it was the Dogs ■■■■■■■■, but if my Wife ever came with me she used to go Potty. " all that bloody Clickerty Clacking, it’s driving me Mad.
Hiya…high edge raceway…mine…Brisca…Belle vue…Odsall stadium…stacks of truck drivers and
owners was into stockcars and general racing…
