Thats more like it, real drivers eh:mrgreen:
Silver_Surfer:
Yeah, he probly
Was caning it but the can go over if
Their poorly loaded through no fault of the driver surely. I appreciate this is more likely to
Happen with deckers but it still
Can happen to tainers.
You think it was poorly loaded, but don’t think the driver was to blame
If drivers checked their load maybe!!
This re-enforces why DCPC is needed!
Having never done deep-sea containers before, can someone tell me what provision is made at ports and rail heads for drivers to break the seal and check inside the container? I’m presuming that the receiver will take issue to a container of valuables from China or Japan arriving minus the steel bolt seal and there may be customs implications in some cases to a driver breaking the seal on his own initiative.
If I were to go in to Felixstowe or Southampton tomorrow and pick up a box that just came in from China and take it upon myself to break the seal, what would the legal and practical consequences be? Is the box free of customs once its on my trailer and will/could the load be rejected because of what I’d done? Will the port officially allow me to break the seal and then re-seal it with documentation to say they have done so?

Hope the driver is ok

The port authority will tell you to do as you want … Its nothing to do with them … its down to the import office or agent.
If you want to break the seal that’s who you check with as some containers are HMCR sealed for bond… then you need to talk to customs , but on the whole you just need to ask if they say no then its up to you if you want to take it on …
You would need to have a good reason for getting the seal broken though ie as you drive round the dock the container feels dangerously unstable …
ive often pulled 18000 litres of wine in a plastic liner inside a 20ft container with out any baffles, this makes for an interesting drive.used to load them at felixstowe on a slider and take to a bottling plant nr norwich.i think these should be banned that amount of liquid should be in a tank on a goose neck

It enforces more concentration at junctions and less right foot on the gas pedal… to many ppl are in a rush / race…but you can blame the companies for that…

No, you blame the drivers for allowing their companies to push them.
. Try saying no, it does work…believe me.

Sorry but that’s a load of pish. If you need to be told that driving too fast into a roundabout might tip it over then you shouldn’t be driving, anything. This topic wasn’t even mentioned on mine so I must just be lucky that I’ve never done it.

Why don’t you all just guess about what happened?
Oh! You already did that.
I’m guessing he wasn’t sat at the roundabout waiting to join it when the container decided to flip over on its own. I’ll go again & guess he was driving faster than 10 mph. Anything else would be speculation, or conjecture.

Oh! You don’t know either do you.

No I don’t.
Accordingly I won’t hang a driver until I know what did happen, unlike some people on here.

And here’s me thinking that the concept of a forum was to discuss matters such as this, and to give and share opinions.
