Not you mate I’m FULLY with you in the whole issue, think its disgusting that its funded and not payed back.
But there are definitely a few on here I’m sure are just on day release, laying bait, as the DWP really don’t just give it out, its classed as a LAST RESORT and you have to have 3 guaranteed jobs in writing.
sorry Benjie83 but the jobcentre did hand out the funding for the tests and licences without anything being guaranteed. we had a meeting with a potential employer and then done the tests in swansea before doing the lessons. we are free to go to any employer we wish. i was on the dole less than 3 months before this was offered to me. its a trial and the funding has to be used before end of this tax year. hence the rush to get people signed up. depending on successful it is - it will be rolled out across more of the country.
there is a massive shortage of drivers here in wales so they are trying to fill the gaps with people wanting to work.
I see no reason why the unemployed can’t be trained at the taxpayers expense. there are literally dozens of agency jobs the presently unemployed could fill, they could even fill some of them unpaid as part of a jsa work experience scheme.
get em off the dole and driving trucks 15 hrs a day for a tenner extra on their dole, I’m all for it.
multi drop? 40 drops a day? heavy handball? no problem, get a doley to do it.
class one multi drop? 3 nights out? no problem, get a doley on it.
I’m all for it, give the lot of them class 1 training and force them to do retests until they pass I say!

You’ve missed the bit where 100% of doleys (long term unemployed/professional scroungers) dont want to work an actual job.
Cash in hand, sure, they’ll do that when its decorating their neighbours front room etc, but as for getting up at the crack of dawn to get to work 5 days a week, no chance.
As for workfare/jsa bollox, that targets the wrong people, usually the young who only claim £50 a week, not the ones on the pretend sick that have the brand new car, rent paid for, spend all their cash on takeout, ■■■■, booze, naff tattoos and dope type people.
If people don’t want the licence, they’ll hit the first cone on the reverse, and that’s a fail. That’s the be all and end all of it.
