Yep and it was at the end of '74 that we emigrated to Australia. Best move we ever made, specially when we come back for holidays and watch it all going down the tube a bit more every time.
I got talking to a couple in a queue somewhere once they had emegrated to austrailia then moved back due to ageing parents they hated it so much here they were looking at going back and taking the parents with them.

Another Tory Gov overseeing a slow growth period, followed by a Labour Gov under Wilson getting good growth.
Yep, many won`t remember that, or bother to look it up. They will though still be reading fairytales about how Tory Govs are all economic geniuses, in the Tory owned media.
The past, ten plus years, of Tory policy has not matched the previous growth figures under the previous Labour governance.

um it wasnt about which party brought it in it was more about the three day week.
As to what party caused hardship… the winter of discontent was only ended when thatcher came to power agter a labour gov
however i think judging political parties on the past is kinda redundent the people involved arent in power anymore or even alive in some cases. what matters now is juding the party/leader on thier merits and ideas. that is of course not to say we shouldnt learn from the past.

Was that the same ‘Labour governance’ that off loaded all the gold reserves,.the one led by Brown who totally ■■■■ ed up a lot of worker’s pensions, the one who’s minister left a note for the next Chancellor or whoever saying ‘‘There’s nothing left’’ or words to that effect, not to mention the dubious war we were led into on a falsehood about WMDs, where many British servicemen lost their lives
Yeh I remember them.
Don’t bother posting one of your links to either refute or to put a positive spin on it all, I have a memory thanks.
All of the above and more are the reasons that the working class of whom they are ‘supposed’ to represent, no longer vote for them.
I honestly do not know which party if any is worth getting off my arse to go and vote for them.
inevitally you end up voting for the LEAST WORSE PARTY unless you are a die hard they cannot do wrong sort of person
i would prefer not to vote labour because of Blair
i would certainly not vote tory because of Thatcher
i will not vote green as i like my creature comforts
so its a toss up between lib dems and the monster raving loony party
corruption and favoritism in politics were going on long before modern times it that we just get to see and hear about it now
the fact that there is a whole lobbying industry just goes to provei it.
yes working times need to come down but i would suggest a framework of x hours a week ( 40 ) then time and a half for over that upto say 55 anything after that is double time ie make it far too costly to work long hours also the working week is monday to friday with extra payments outside this
this give employers flexability but at a cost and a benifit to the worker ok i know its not going to happen but it should be way better than whatever we have now

There is a law restricting work to 48hrs week. The WTD.
The UK Gov however decided that we can opt out of it. And now are considering ditching it altogether.
If you don`t want to work over 48hrs a week that may be cause for concern in the future.

OK. Noted.
Links to world events that the media spin to make money selling newspapers, will have no bearing to what anyone with a brain cell can remember or alternativly if too young can go and research properly

Aye whatever.
Thing is mate if I told you it was Friday, you would say it was Sunday…and believe it.
We all know how you always think you are right,.and that anybody who holds a contrary position, or a differing opinion in to you is an idiot…in your mind.
So I was just trying to save you some time and effort.

Nah you don’t get it mate, …whatever any official body tells you is gospel, especially if it an be ‘‘proven’’ by some link or another, and whatever you are instructed to do by the same or any other official body, must be conformed to, to the letter.
Don’t ever try to see things different or look for a real agenda what ever you do.
What I said on that as far as I remember is all true, if I’m wrong I’ll hold my hands up.
Its just that I do not profess to be some sort of barrack room armchair authoritative expert on politics…or Brexit…or Covid …
as some do on here.
In fact anything really,.I drive a truck for a living ffs.

How much research did you do into the links I post?
How many refer to mass media sites trying to sell copy and adverts or push their owner`s propaganda?
How many to other sites?
I can tell you I`ve done a 5min search, and I have put up links to a few youtube skits, plus,
MacroTrends, Wikipaedia, Statista, YouGov, BBC, all of which give references to original sources.
The FT, which shows real people talking, and offers their interpretation; and footage of Parliament.
Ysee? That is the thing with links: you, me, anyone, who wishes can follow them and decide whether or not they are reliable. We arent bound to accept them as verbatim.
Surely better than “the voices in my head sez”?
Especially when there is a boisterous crowd of different personalities all jostling away!

sorry wasnt trying to put words in your mouth. Just more a statment on the belife that some newspaper says x y or z then it must be the truth according to them.
just yesterday somone on another thread said that they only reason people voted for brexit was because we were against immigration i made the mistake of entertaining the comment rather than wetting myself laughing at it pointing out that some of the motivation was about the migration policy. His responce was no your wrong it was about imigration. You can just imagine him sitting there with his fingers in his ears stamping his little feet

No, I say that the FT piece gave the original comments of people. They also gave the FT opinion of that. Up to the viewer to decide whether or not that was a valid view.
Since you critcise other`s laziness, and also say you only skim what is given you, I guess I am wasting tim…

What? You criticise the media and expect others to believe what is in the “Express”?
Waste of tim…when is the footie on?

exactly my point
Are you saying, all sources are exactly as reliable as one another? All are equal to the “Express”?
