Why is English food so bad?

Typical british, moan moan moan, go to the Middle East or North Africa, a boiled knee joint of questionable origin on a bed of rice.

Fulham FC:
Personally speaking I think we’re right up there with the best in the world.

I would agree, we invented the TV chef the tikka masala and the keema naan, baking programs attract millions of viewers, come dine with me masterchef its on 24/7 we gave Keith Floyd to the world, british food is the best in Europe.

There is only 3 things the the rest of Europe does better than us, and that’s lager cars and football.

I think that it is because we have always wanted our food down to a price.Bakers used to get a subsidy on the price of flour used for breadmaking. In that way Governments would manipulate the price of the bread of life.

You can eat healthy whilst out on the road - I always take my packed lunch with me & that’s hot and/or cold food, some of the burger vans found on UK laybys have healthy options but most don’t & I avoid them generally unless I fancy a bacon sandwich.

I’d dispute English food being accused of being intrinsically bad,Amarican road kill joints that infest the msa’s on the network are the major problem.Had the misfortune to be heading south to London.M6,m1-a hideous spectacle of golden arches,Costaly, kfc pig swill outlets a go-go,all the way down,Deeply depressing how the masses partake of this satanic culinary effluent.
My dreams would be answered if the French L’Arche motorway catering chain were to take over the entire uk network, only then would we be able to eat like human beings.I’ts beyond parody how willing people are to subject their systems to the pure ■■■■■ that is American fast ‘food’,Cruelly produced, hormone packed, connective tissue infused poison,in a bucket or seeded bun.

Manalshi, you are thinking the same as me.
French lorry drivers are spoilt with their nationwide Rouitiers network.
Dine like a King from ten to twenty Euros with free parking.
No fuel is stolen or your curtains slashed by Edward Scissor hands and his cronies like you get in the UK.
Why don’t Rouitiers come to the UK and provide six course fixed priced drivers menus ?
The Uk is supposed to be in the top three of the richest countries but the roads are riddled with litter and laybys selling food you would not feed your dog.

Carryfast:
Ill stick with
Chateaubriand fillet steak and a whole lobster and a Provence Rose.

OMG, CF you won’t believe this but my missus and I where just trying to remember the dish we shared at the Mill at Alveley and this is it. She remembers it because it was fantastic, I remember it due to rude relations afterwards. Cheers mate I owe you a leg over…

Has carryfast come over for his leg over yet?

I thought this thread was about ENGLISH food

that’s ok if you go home every night

It is not… if one is willing to cook proper food! English food is ok but can be bland and lack flavour. Indian food is ok but can be over spiced and too rich! Balance is the trick. It does not matter which country you got to because everywhere is different food/taste. You make your choice to eat what and where.

You want bland food just come to North America

Fast food everywhere, chain restaurants that reheat crap out of boxes and tins, plastic cheese on everything, vegetables consist of sweetcorn and nothing else. They don’t have anything moist on a breakfast, no beans, tomatoes ffs and their bacon is stringy strips of fat.

But what it lacks in quality is made up in quantity, huge portions are the way out here.

The yanks have a good way of hyping their food up with shows like man v food and diners driveins and dives…they seem bbq barmy, what would you say their best food is

So which British truck do you drive? British food in principle may be good but in reality is ■■■■■■ traveling in Germany last week the food at the service stations on the Autobahns was superb, freshly cooked to order, not left sat under a heat light for hours like over here.

The best food here comes from the little hole in the wall joints, as seen on Diners, Drive ins and Dives.

The ethnic (mainly South American) places are pretty good, but my personal favourite is BBQ from a little shack in the middle of nowhere, the meat comes from a local farm, rather than a factory farm and they put their heart and soul into the cooking process, you can also get baked beans for a bit of moisture on your plate!

Now I run in Canada and don’t venture into the land of the “free” anymore I only eat out in Chinese or Indian restaurants, maybe a good steakhouse every now and then.

Brother-in-law’s a big lad, he and my skin-n-blister go to Canada at least twice a year. Both would heartily agree with you… although she’s a tiny little thing, she can scoff for England!

Really ■■?

I really dislike having to warm my dinner up in the nuker having paid through the nose for it.

I have often said that I would rather have a bad meal anywhere than any meal in France.

I think the point has been made that it’s actually cheaper to eat out in The UK than anywhere I can think of in Europe.
