Why don't trucks flash car drivers?

Pat Hasler:
I was merely pointing out that we are all car drivers

That was kinda my point though Pat, we are not car drivers, we are HGV drivers in a car, that’s a world of difference between us and the average joe car driver.

Pat Hasler:
I drive a smooth bore (no baffles) liquid tanker and brake checking me is a very stupid thing to do and the liquid doesn’t want to stop when the brakes are applied, but there are idiots everywhere, not all of them are in cars.

I’ve pulled Welsh Water fresh water tankers and they are baffle-less too so I can relate to what you say, they can be … interesting, in their liveliness…

I’m also with you here Reef, we drive both and know the pitfalls, we know what a truck can do and don’t mess with them. On the other hand car drivers that only drive CARS, will just take risks because they don’t realize what could happen to them, should they have an altercation with something bigger than them.

To many drivers now haven’t a clue how to join at a slip road, to many think that the dotted white line is for decoration and that they have right of way and you need to brake, move, give way. This just isn’t car drivers sadly, many times moved over to let them join, they can’t even raise a finger in thanks or acknowledgement, but if you don’t move the fist soon gets waved. But the car divers are the worse, hesitating at near identical speed, if you do move over, they then floor it leaving you out in Lane 2 whilst they disappear in the distance.

I agree, but regarding the part I’ve highlighted of your post I’d sooner that than the ones who just sit there on your n/s matching your speed exactly leaving you with two options, sit in the middle lane until they finally figure out you can’t magically gain another 5 - 10 mph out of your truck which is already on the limiter or knock it off ~ 5 mph to let the car undertake you so you can hopefully be let back in to lane one by the accumulated traffic behind that car, which then indubitably allows the Tesco’s, Asda and the Morrisons truck to sail past you which you’ve then got to re-overtake a mile or so further down the road
