Why don't trucks flash car drivers?

Because they (car drivers that is) are numpties that’s why!

I was coming along the M4 the other night with another truck roughly about a truck and a halfs length in front of me, we were just starting to go past an on-slip and there was a Range Rover coming up the n/s of me obviously wanting to join the motorway, so I flashed him to let him know he could join in front of me as I was easing off a click or two at the time to increase the gap between me and the aforementioned truck in front as I was unable to move over to lane two due to traffic already in that lane.

And what thanks did I get? The [zb]ing idiot brake tested me twice because he’d assumed I was ‘aggro flashing’ him!

Lucky for both of us I was empty that’s all I can say

Not sticking up for the ‘numpty’ car driver because all wagon drivers think they are far superior to mere car drivers but maybe your ‘brake test’ assertion is just a figment of your imagination ■■? I dunno ! …

I’d like to know why you reached that assumption of me, do you have tangible evidence that I have ever told lies on this forum?

Don’t happen to drive a Range Rover do you?

Anyway whatever, if you find it unbelievable that a lorry got brake checked that’s your prerogative.

This is one of the reasons why I don’t give way to anybody if i have priority.

They can either speed up or slow down and I’m not bothered which one they choose but I won’t be slowing down then speeding up just because (usually) the car numpty thinks he/she is indecisive, maybe [emoji16][emoji16] and has no clue how to use a slip road.

Nothing against the OP ,but if you flash cars and there is an accident , you may get the blame.
I flashed out a car waiting at a junction to join a main road, and the driving assessor told me off .
I see many trucks flashing in cars and vans when they overtake the truck on a motorway.
I don’t see the point in that.
The latest craze by lorry drivers is no using indicators while changing motorway lanes.
To the OP,maybe Range Rover Mr Angry, had an issue as a trucker slept with his wife.

More likely unsure of his/her size/speed

I’ve thought about this quite a lot and I’ve come to the conclusion that I’d like it better if the roads weren’t so busy.

I reckon the problem is that particular driver did not realise you were trying to be helpful by flashing him. He probably thought I know what I am doing so why is that lorry driver flashing at me!
Personally I am very wary of flashing lights at other drivers as it can quite easily all go wrong and then you are partly to blame.

I only flash Trucks if it helps them or generally the one behind them. Yes mate you are 600 yards in front of me now, stop hogging the middle lane Juan.

i used to be courteous to those entering from a slip, but ive not done so for years now due to the changing attitudes.
i never give way nor change speed now when i have priority though there is always the slight amusement watching those on autopilot that cant judge speed and distance so that they assume they can just drive the entire length of the on slip and automatically be allowed to join lane 1.
at the point it dawns on them they cant, you can almost see their brain going into cant cope/does not compute overload with the outcome being stop dead on the hard shoulder they are now driving on,or taking a complete deathwish attack on me for not going out of my way to let them in.
its almost 100% a wifey or sometimes some old coffin dodger guy.
these small incidents can somewhat brighten up an otherwise dull day.
range rover and similar drivers in general are usually pretentious up their own jacksie cretins and deserve what they get so its always hapy hunting with one of them.
possibly its due to the older i get, then the more people i decide to hate…

Amazes me how some cant judge the length of their truck…

Ditto…we’ve got 360 degree cameras on all our wagons now,if I know that I’m in the right,I just plod on

None of this happened

I rarely if ever flash cars out. I’ll happily leave them sufficient space to get out but I want no ambiguity whatsoever so I leave the decision to merge or not totally up to them.

We all know what flashing the lights means in the real world, but obviously in Highway Code world it’s not the same.

I’d rather they stayed out too long than cut in on me. :imp:
A couple of overtaking new trends I’ve noticed among the d/head contingent among us :unamused: , they indicate left when their trailer is only half way past you, so you don’t know if they are going to cut in, or what.

Or worse the ones who not only cut in on you :imp: … but give you a both side indicator flash, for presumably ‘thanks for flashing me in’… even though you have not, nor have they given you time to, flash these cretins in. :smiling_imp:

I will pull out to let a car out (but not flash) ok it’s a pain in the arse if they leave you hanging, but rather that than being involved in some way in an rta, even though it would not be my fault.
I also always flash trucks out when safe to do so.

It’s the difference between a pro driver and a ■■■■ imo. :bulb:

I have also noticed that trend of indicating when not fully past, generally the large own account operators where the plant pot usually works.

I make a point of not flashing these inbiciles, credit where it is due the use of fog lights by the said imbecile gives warning to the person being overtaken that something idiotic may occur.

As to flashing cars one takes somewhat of a gamble in doing so, the motorist may become confused as to what you are trying to communicate and my not react in the way you intended, treat them all as idiots until proven otherwise.

It’s the difference between a pro driver and a [zb] imo. :bulb:

Ok… Any proof or are you just talking out of your arse as usual?

I generally do the same, in fact flashing the RR out was unusual but did perfectly fit the situation, just wont be doing it again that’s all.
