Why don't trucks flash car drivers?

I only flash if theyve flashed me ( might be a fellow trucker ) or if they have a trailer on or a caravan…but not all of them thank you…to flash every car…will burn out my headlights before i get off the motorway…basically…theres far too many.

I’ve found that if cars need to be flashed in, they’re not the sort of driver I want in front of me.

Just to be clear I never said he ‘needed’ flashing out, I just flashed him out of courtesy, akin to the “after you” at a doorway type of thing, doesn’t need doing but those with manners do it anyway…

We in that case it’s your own fault. Showing off with your fancy dan manners. You’ll be holding doors open for women next. Believe me, that IS a minefield! :grimacing:

I used to be courteous to car drivers on motorways and even slow down/move lanes to allow the idiots to merge at 30 mph… But I don’t anymore as I have the right of way and frankly they shouldn’t be driving of they can’t merge into a motorway correctly

Truck drivers who flash in overtaking car drivers are really sad mofos!

I’m a bit like Billy Connolly, sometimes I wander off on a tangent. BUT! What really winds me up, someone in a car with the back door on the catch, the fuel flap open or fog lamps on in sunshine. I want to get out, steal their keys and smash every lamp and their teeth with my hammer [emoji375]

Should I seek help?

I agree with the sentiment but not the insult, I never flash cars or vans back in that have overtaken, nothing smaller than a 7.5 tonner in fact.

I also wont be giving courtesy flashes to joining traffic any more either [zb] em! :stuck_out_tongue:

Gee zus, I did not know this forum existed till an old truck driver mate told me about it. He did say there was some ■■■■ attitudes but after reading through this thread I think he misinformed me.
They are not just ■■■■ they are some of the biggest arrogant ■■■■■ I have ever come across.
Let me tell you just because you have priority does not make you blameless if there is an accident.
A few years ago I worked with a guy who had a similar attitude to some on here. I am right ,you are wrong, so ■■■■ you. He was involved in a serious accident which he caused by his arrogance for not moving when he could have. He was adamant he had done nothing wrong because he had priority but he had managed to force a car to crash down an embankment and seriously injured an elderly lady.
In court he was told he was very lucky not to receive a jail sentence although he was banned for 5 years and given a hefty fine. Personally I would have happier if he had been jailed and banned from driving for life.

Who’s gonna be first for the reply ■■?

I only flash Trucks if it helps them or generally the one behind them. Yes mate you are 600 yards in front of me now, stop hogging the middle lane Juan.

Amazes me how some cant judge the length of their truck…

I’d rather they stayed out too long than cut in on me. :imp:
A couple of overtaking new trends I’ve noticed among the d/head contingent among us :unamused: , they indicate left when their trailer is only half way past you, so you don’t know if they are going to cut in, or what.

Or worse the ones who not only cut in on you :imp: … but give you a both side indicator flash, for presumably ‘thanks for flashing me in’… even though you have not, nor have they given you time to, flash these cretins in. :smiling_imp:

I will pull out to let a car out (but not flash) ok it’s a pain in the arse if they leave you hanging, but rather that than being involved in some way in an rta, even though it would not be my fault.
I also always flash trucks out when safe to do so.

It’s the difference between a pro driver and a [zb] imo. :bulb:

That was my point Rob, the ones who cant judge the rear end of their trailer and try to remove not only your wipers but half your cab as well…

Maybe lady drivers who were lied to, [emoji14]

:laughing::grimacing:

No need to flash cars in, why the hell would you, give them room but never flash them in.

Yep,.the same ones who say… ‘‘I don’t need anyone to flash me in, I know where the back of my trailer is exactly’’
Proving everytime they overtake you that… they do and they don’t. :unamused:

Have you just checked in from ‘The Hood’…blood?

Because they (car drivers that is) are numpties that’s why!

Three reasons. One, cars ought to be better able to judge their length - and anyway, they do not obstruct the view ahead if they cut in too soon. Two, there are far too many of them (and they drive too inconsistently) to be flashing them in every couple of seconds. Three, if they’re overtaking they ought to be going a ■■■■ sight faster than me - and flashing only encourages them to think they’re one of the crowd and thus to congregate around trucks!

Yeh, that’s the way things are now mate in many cases.
There are more arrogant selfish ■■■■ s driving trucks today than ever there was.

Most are nothing more than car drivers with hgv licences, so they think that you drive a truck in the same way :unamused: …examples of what happens when few real skills and abilities are needed to drive a modern truck, so now anybody can pass a test to steer one.

Others are the ones with the blinkers on going like ■■■■ on the limiter for their 9 hours drive time to the last second, cutting up, tailgating and all the rest of it, concentrating only on achieveing their excessive workload handed out to them by their boss.
So they have not got a minute to even stop for a ■■■■, and teararse around, as you say with a stinking attitude, with absolute zero thought and consideration for any other road users…you see these ■■■■ s everyday mate.

Most car drivers wouldn’t understand why they are being flashed and many will automatically assume you flashed to intimidate or provoke them.
That said I do still flash them to enter off slip roads or when hesitating to pull in front of us as they’re clearly either less competent, stupid or less experienced than us and our flash maybe all it takes to give them the all clear and ease their mind.
Flashing them if they’re lane hogging or being a c$&t doesn’t get us anywhere so I try to refrain from doing that.
