Am I the only one that has just about had it with driving. The money isn’t brilliant. You get treated like dirt.
At a well known supermarket rdc and am close to relocating the goods in man’s head. He prob doesn’t realise he is one smart comment from chewing with his ar$e.
Prob the heat and lack of sleep but just not in the mood this week
They should be thanking you for bringing them the goods, not stressing you out.
Go & sit in your cab (parked in his way) & take a chill pill for half an hour. Lol.
I tend to go for the submissive, friendly, couldn’t give a duck [possible censor dodge see rules 3 - 9] attitude… this works 9 times out of 10 but in this profession its only a matter of time before we come across folks we can’t get on with.
Easier said than done but none of these buggers are worth losing a job for or getting arested for assault.
Count to 10 and inform him you need to go for a walk as you take his safety seriously
Thats said I did have an altercation with a small (why is it always the littleuns that kick off) security guard so I do have difficulty following me own rules at times.
Funny we should be discussing this subject right now, I’m actually being unloaded by the worlds most Unhappy Fork Truck Driver, just about acknowledged my presence & now he’s unloading from the front to back, instead of back to front while it I pump truck the other pallets across for him, Hey Ho ! Now he’s going to have to wait while I take my time moving said pallets. Lol. (KNOB)
I gave a month’s notice yesterday, seeing as I’m off in a fortnight to get married. I have driven professionally for 30 years and have had enough. So that’ll be that come the end of August.
The way you gotta look at this, would you be happy working on ya own cruising the highways and byways of this country and Europe, having to deal with the occasional numpty with the arse about having to do his job… or would you rather work with a crowd of people day in and day out, talking behind ya back, stabbing it at every opportunity for there own advancement
Id say just ignore the attitude from these people, let it go over ya head…just think to yourself " what a sad ■■■■■■ " then move on to the next job and next idiot… no point stressing
Yep, some right awkward/ miserable people out there !!!
Was at a RDC a few months back, the truck was on the loading dock so I walked to the ‘drivers reception area’ waiting at the window to hand the keys in but as usual being totally ignored by the plantpot sitting directly behind the window, despite the gentle tap on the glass. His ‘colleague’ comes out from another door, shouts the name of my firm and hands back over my paperwork after unloading the one pallet, goes to get my keys then starts mouthing off to me as I hadn’t handed them in !!!
Currently driving a desk…really tempted to go back on the road…but don’t do well with the attitude of some of the goods in people…which is why if i do go back it will be tippers preferably, or boxes.
I don’t mind too much the miserable vibes…its the being pointedly ignored which really gets me going. It takes a mere second or two just to acknowledge your presence and say “be with you in a moment, drive”…but to sit there bashing away at the computer, shuffling paper, chatting on the phone to your mate, or just anything to avoid having to deal with me, is utterly disrespectful .Worse still are the ones that finish what they are doing, then get up and walk away from the window…
But i always think how sad their life must be if they need to get their kicks by treating others like ■■■■…and then i just generally chuckle to myself and rejoice in the fact that i am not them!
Suppose we can all have bad days and be miserable but empathy and walking a mile in another mans shoes etc aside theres no reason to behave rudely especially in a work environment.
Pet hate of mine is talking to someone and mid flow their phone rings and they ignore you to answer it and start another conversation, I normally walk off or picture painful scenarios for them.
im currently driving a desk and I tell you the attitude of goods in staff are far more bearable than ignorant customers and drivers attitudes to be fair 95% of them are easy to get on with and funny guys but there are a couple of guys that just want to make my hectic day just a little worse not to mention im not enjoing the rake of out of hours calls so for me I think I will be going back on containers…ill be better of money wise than I am now so its a no brainer just need to convince the missus!!!
Gotta admit I luv my job. No hassle from dispatch don’t really deal with ar$ey customers open highway foot down BUT on the other hand I don’t do RDC work that could be why

This, a million times!
I’m not sure of the best way to deal with situations like this. I used to work with a woman who did this, she knew ■■■■ well I was standing there but always ignored you, one day I lent over the desk and ended her phone call for her! Got her attention then!
It’s just a little power trip for these sad little fools, apart from my little outburst above, it’s best just to ignore them.
Beginning to wonder after this last week - we have had a new office bod who started a couple of weeks ago.
First week - fine - few things but nothing too annoying.
This week - I have had more calls these five days than the previous six months combined. All fine if it’s actual important stuff but it’s just random ■■■■■■
Yesterday it culminated into this.
I was unstrapping a load and I heard the works phone go, busy so I left it (our place usually knows if we don’t answer, we’re busy), then my personal mobile went. Again I left it. Next - the customers mobile went - he passed the phone over - “how long are you going to be you think?”
I was actually embarrassed and apologised to the customer.
Sounds petty now I’m writing it but I’ve had 5 days of this building up.
