Why do people try to open your cab door!

Does anyone else find this annoying??
You wouldn’t go up to someone’s house and just open the front door would you.

I lock my cab doors as soon as I’m in it as a second nature habit now but the amount of people who just walk up and try to open the door really ■■■■■■ me off sometimes
I just reach for the ignition slowly and put the window down.

I’ve just had some geezer (another driver) banging on my PASSANGER door and try to open it
Which prompted me to put my drivers window down and shout out that I’m on this side.
What are these people on!!

I do find most will give a courteous knock before opening or some will knock and open simultaneously.

Why do you have people trying to get into your truck? What do you have that they want?

Have you read any of his posts, they probably are going to either punch him or ask his advice on how to take a corner due to his magnificent and incomparable skills

i personally wouldn’t run with the door locked other than than slow moving town / city driving if i thought it was dodgy. i don’t wanna make it any harder than it needs to be for someone to get me out after an accident.

a school mates dad was a traffic cop and it was one of his bugbears

 But he has a point. People do it all the time and I keep my doors locked. Little while ago without warning one of the security guys in Liverpool dock just jumped in the passenger side without warning, could have punched him! No one has the right to get in my lorry without permission and I don’t need to door open to talk to someone, I can do that through the window.

LOL. Still waiting for his video, we’re the stobarts wagon got stuck.

don’t know if its about already but eventually I guess we would all end up with the same system that most modern cars have when pulling away the doors lock automatically

Mine does except the drivers door remains unlocked.

My car does it automatically after 5mph, what you’ll find with these systems is if the Seat belt tentioners are fired (small explosive charge) it will pop the locks at the same time for just that reason, safety after an accident.

Usually I’d knock rather than just flying the door open, it’d be just my luck the driver was leaning on it without his seatbelt on!

That same system could be used but the obvious problem for most drivers that I work with would be at the seat belt always seems to be plugged in behind them so wouldn’t tension in an accident so perhaps that’s why we don’t have it!!

If the seat belts plugged in then it’ll tention in a crash, automatic reaction usually linked to the crash sensors and the airbags. I don’t mean the way a seatbelt locks when you corner and it runs against the ratchet, there’s a much more savage system inside them thats crash triggered, that actually pulls the seatbelt as tight as possible over you.

So it’d all work but the guy would be being extracted from the cab top cupboards rather than the seat

Not a very good one then, what would he do if it was a stolen car or the guy inside had a load of drugs on passenger seat. Wave him on his way because the door was locked ■■? No he would do what he would do in the case of someone being locked in after an accident and put the window in!.

keep me doors locked around town but out on the road leave unlocked incase I need to bail out in a hurry lol
the other thing I’ve noticed on me new car that I got last week is that as soon as you start driving the doors lock automatically.

What annoys me is when they smack your door so hard with the palm off there hand wearing rings and watches it may only be a truck but it doesn’t mean I want my doors bloody scratched people wouldn’t go and smack there car bonnets with the palm off there hand and put a scratch dent or chip on it would they?’

when a car crashed into my trailer and ended up in the 3rd lane, i ran over from the hard shoulder opened the door, got the woman who wasn’t majorly hurt but was in pretty bad shock out of the car that she’d been sat in 30 - 60 seconds before i got there, then back over to the hard shoulder. luckily it was 8pm in the summer, so the road was quiet but in full daylight, so we were lucky. i didn’t have anything on me to put a window through and it never crossed my mind when i set off from my truck to take something heavy with me, sure i would of found something or got in somehow, but it all takes time. whilst i never seen anything other than the steam you’d expect, the recovery driver said there had been a fire under the bonnet, so again we were lucky. but every now and then people will be needing to get people out sharpish.

the point is, common sense would say that the police are very rarely 1st on the scene and it’s down to the general public to get you out sharpish if the vehicle is on fire.

if you knew him you’d wouldn’t say he was not a very good one and you’d be ashamed of yourself for suggesting it.

I hate this , I treat the cab as my office , I hate when your.reversing & some bell end comes & opens the door , they deserve to get flattened or if its pouring down & some chimp insists on standing there talking while everything gets wet , they should wait unt8l I get out to talk to them

Shame you can’t fit one of these

I think we should start bursting though RDC doors see how they like it lol

I dislike it too but funnily enough it seems to have stopped now because people can’t work out where the door handle is on a Magnum.
