Why do car drivers do this?

Not trying to blow it up into something it isn’t.
Just trying to get a simple yes/no answer to a simple scenario.
Wether “professional” drivers actually would continue into a life threatening situation because they are “in the right”
It may be the other drivers fault in the main but if you fail to take avoiding action then you too are to blame.
You have no idea about what is going on in the other car, wether the driver is just stupid, ill or inexperienced.
And whilst the driver himself may be 100% to blame, any passengers aren’t.

I’ve no clue what point you are trying to prove. Whatever it is it’s a poor one. To my mind you sound like you’re a danger on the roads. Every time something gets within x distance of you you ■■■■ your pants because ZOMG THEY MIGHT DRIVE INTO ME !!!111111 WHAT WOULD I SAY AT THE INQUEST !!!11111 The simple answer is that in the situation you describe any brief worth his salt would quickly put paid to any accusation from the prosecution of you being at fault.

Now can you please stop dreaming up ridiculous scenarios and just get on with driving your truck.

gave up driving trucks 3 years ago, busy driving my TV etc now.

‘… I won’t be flashing any car out…’

Agreed: It’s a ‘held-on’ main beam (or 99.99% of the time nowt) from me - and which I’ll generously give in (thus far) adequate time for Mr/Mrs/Ms/Dr/Proffessor/Rev’d Molehusband to adjust their stop/go pedalling arrangement.

That said, I’ll often have anticipated their ‘entry’ and created an opportunity for Elvis to enter the building - sometimes & reluctantly even at pain of speed-loss if I’ve had it taken between the slip-road off and the slip-road on by a nippy rigid, etc.

Sure it hurts - and how often does that happen to us poor saps not in the Gold Card (ie., 56+mph or Paddy-type) Club  :exclamation:

So it’s occurred to me that it’s possibly slightly arrogant and/or unprofessional to say ‘never’ or ‘always’ with situations that ultimately conflict the safety - even of idiots - with our pride and ‘being forced to be weak’ with them.

Also, even with my finely honed BS skills I’d rather lose a few seconds on the road than:

1. Do a mountain of prang-documentation back at work in the Naughty Room

2. Give Molehusband any dinner-party material to drone-on about ‘…how bad supposed professional drivers are these days…’

My conclusion? We should stay happy & chilled and not play the Gov’ts game of being divided as motorists - which ultimately only serves the purpose of Brussels via Whitehall being better enabled to rule over us with their cloth-ears and their devious & very often un-mandated agenda.

‘…common sense…’ was an expression abandoned after the War

‘…Which war are you talking about…?’

The covertly waged dark side of the ‘Cool Britannia’ campaign that lasted three terms over 13 years by the Labour Party against their manifesto declarations, their sworn duty to us as it’s Citizens of Europe - and against decent democracy in general.

But don’t worry, ‘Call-me-Dave’ is doing well to keep it going on Brussels’ behalf

‘… common sense …’

As moaned about above, ‘… common sense …’ got consigned to history a decade or two ago

I am not in the habit of replying to idiotic posts but I find your comments so unbelievable I feel I have to respond.
So I am a danger on the road because if someone gets too close I will panic?
I am a professional driver and know exactly what to do if someone gets to close and the last thing I would do was panic.
My point is that there are to many drivers including truck drivers that will not maintain a safe traveling distance and when something unexpected happens they cannot stop.
This is proved time and time again by bad accidents and innocent people lose their lives because of it.
A very important point I feel.
