Why attractive young women become truck drivers?

Don’t forget the non-binary :open_mouth:

Or the attractive old women

Speaking of…
I was randomly invited for a medical and I went today.
The lady said I have to ask you some questions, not written by me but by the governing body…ok I said, fire away.

She says…‘Question 1.’
‘What gender are you?’’

I’m 6’ 1’, I’m 16 stone, with a shaven head, and a bit of a beard going on ffs.
I said ‘Take a guess’
She says…'I have to hear it from you.
:unamused:

I really hope you said female

I did once see what looked like a dolled up 18 year old instagram queen shunting on a tug, and couldn’t reverse for her life. It looked all wrong.

Yeah that’s the kind I’m talking about, up to early-mid 20s with an inch of makeup on the face, fake eyelashes, £50 nailjob and the tightest black yoga pants or w/e they’re called she managed to squeeze herself into albeit with considerable effort. Can’t do a straight reverse (not exaggerating - literally) but has passed class 1 apparently. Not saying they can’t learn everyone has to start somewhere…But what I think it is is they enjoy the exclusivity. If they were to work in a female dominated environment it would be one of the many however in this job the attention is 100% on them 100% of the time and that somehow feeds their need/ego or something? I genuinely see no other reason

Re. someone said earlier why do young men become drivers, more serious answer I don’t know why ANY young person (under 30) would chose to start a driving career today, if anything it speaks about the lack of opportunity in the country.

I remember watching a report/interview with a doctor who failed his job interview (can’t remember if NHS or USA) because they asked him exactly this question, if a 6’4 man with a large beard walks into your office and requests to be addressed as ‘Mrs’ would you address him as ‘Mrs’ and he said of course no. Granted the doctor’s argument for it was on religious (Christian) grounds but still…

If I were a Dr asked the same question, I’d say I’d call him Mrs and book him a cervical smear and a mamogram!

And in answer to the original question

  1. Some women would rather work in a more masculine environment than the female-dominated b*tch-fest that you might find in an office or call-centre. Most older working-class men are actually quite respectful of women compared to younger blokes raised in the toxic digital environment, too.

  2. Perhaps like many young men they quite like the idea of being paid to drive around this country and even points beyond.

My wife would echo those words.

It’s not balanced view unless you want to imply that the vast majority (90%+) of existing male drivers are homosensual then your comparison would make sense

Homosensual

For the softer, caring lad on lad

I almost redecorated my carpet with protein shake reading this.

Actually, that sounds a bit dodge too doesn’t it… :open_mouth:

I wouldn’t have entertained it, would’ve refused to answer that dumb question and forced her to write down the obvious.

For tiktok and YouTube views.

Is certainly a thing.

Men will attempt to achieve dominance in organisations by a number of means…at worst by physical violence and bullying, at best by showing competence and commitment to the task and (crucially) helping others to do the same.

Female-dominated organisations can be an oasis of support and co-operation, but on the other hand they can become really nasty, because a classic way of women sorting out a ‘pecking order’ is by trashing the reputation of others. So woman A aims to get to the top not by doing better than woman B and C, but by devoting much of her energy to undermining them, and if she can’t do it on the basis of their work, it will be by finding other things out about them and weaponising them.

Then you get the Queen Bee, and her gang of Ladies in Waiting, and all the little clubs that evolve below them: the ‘single girls’, the ‘mummies’ , the ‘cakes, kittens and knitting’ and the ‘bitter divorcees’. They may smile and call each other love, but the reality is far from what you see on the surface. It almost invariably kicks off at the office Xmas party…and in my last job I refused to attend the Xmas party as did increasing numbers of the other men. At the last one of all, the police had to be called because two of the women were fighting because on had danced with the other’s boyfriend. Apparently the police politely suggested that it might be time for them to both go home but this advice was refused and they started fighting again! Eventually, plod’s patience ran out and they both spent the night in the cells. My boss gave up and sold the company!

I’ve worked in big offices, small offices, motorcycle dealers, farming and transport, and I think that I’ve pretty much seen it all: men and women, good and bad: including two women in a two-woman department who had an argument over a swivel chair and would only communicate in writing afterwards!

So I quite understand why some women would want to spend their worktime in their own space in the cab of a truck without worrying that they were going to get stabbed in the back by Cathy from Accounts.

Sorry dude I get it but there are a million other possible roles to try outside an office job (like customer facing or pursue a training in a different field for the £4k spent on license) work from home position, teaching, work with kids etc. I still can’t see a valid reason for wanting to specifically work in a prick-infested environment stuck on your arse all day doing the same crap every day and getting pestered dozens of times a day by greasy sleazebags. It’s the last thing I’d do if all I wanted was peace and quiet. It’d be a no-brainer OTOH if never ending attention is what I’m after

One of my female friends has had an HGV licence for 20 years, and though she spent about half of that at home bringing up young children, she’s been back on the road for a few years. She’s attractive, both inside and out. The reason she drives lorries? She always wanted to be a lorry driver, even at school, and makes the job what it is for her: enjoyable. She simply loves driving lorries for a living. For her it was as simple as that. For others, it probably just looks appealing, or they imagine it to be appealing for any number of reasons.

We get it - you don’t like women in trucking.

Did you read about the senior woman teacher in Scotland who apparently killed herself because she was facing a criminal trial for assault for confiscating a girl’s mobile phone?
At my step-grand-daughter’s primary school many of the pupils can’t sit at a table, eat with a knife and fork, hold a book or use the toilet without supervision.
Teaching has become an impossible job which makes truck-driving look easy and stress-free.

You criticise the appearance of women drivers…of course all male truck drivers are fine physical specimens and immaculately-presented throughout the working day.

Because they can do the job .
Because they want to travel .
Maybe its just noboby elses business why they want to do the job .
If a driver can do the job asked of them - its nobodys business what gender they are .
To be brutaly honest this topic is just a little to sleazy for my liking .

Not sure about sleazy, but it’s a bit too “1970’s” for me to take it seriously

Don’t be jealous that other men are showing her attention.

Don’t be nervous, even though you want to ■■■■ her, she is riddled with the same insecurities as everyone else.

Ask her.

Report back your findings.

^^^^^My thoughts exactly.

ETS has asked her out, she’s turned him down, and now some other driver has managed to slide in there.

And now he’s venting on Trucknet out of frustration
