I’m never actually sure if the people who agree with and regurgitate the guff like that are being serious or they’re on the wind up.
I’m never one to jump to the defence of the police but it really must be a thankless task to have a ton of evidence then have this stupid cow say it’s not real lalalalalalala.
and in all fairness to the coroner - how would it have looked for her amongst the ‘right-on-crowd’ at the dinner party if she had come to any other decision? as you can imagine a very difficult call.

if someoned called abdul or mohammed, you instantly think of an import .if someones called john, trevor or william, then you automatically think of someone indigenously british.if there names wilbur, then you think of a fat american tourist wearing shorts with a camera round his neck.of jimmy implies there scottish.thats not being racist, that just logical thought which should be open to personal interpretation, debate and discussion ( though apparantly not on here)
the wrongly arrested driver may or may not have been hanging off the start of the layby as is the norm so even if he was, then theres not much point in crucifying the 1 poor sod for normal practice by everyone else that parks there and similar laybys that plod ignore every other night of the week, moreso when the attending plod are convinced the driver was wrecked on drink and drugs doing 120 mph at the time.

obviously correct my man,but that fact sums it up nicely for todays uk,though its a statistic and not open to debate,so mums the word…
No I don’t agree at all, I’ve got friends with obviously foreign names that were born in England and so were their parents and I’m closer to a telegram from her majesty than the maternity ward, so these guys may well have been 3rd or even 4th generation immigrants, their great grandfathers could have fought in the war for us, so jumping to conclusions about the purpose of their trip based on their names is wrong.
I’m a Londoner and I’ve been to Dover, Folkestone, Ramsgate etc for a night out with the lads. Granted we never lit fires on the beach, but we, except for the drivers, did get sloshed, some may even have indulged in recreational substances and if there was more than one car, it was a race all the way home. It’s the kind of thing you do when you’re young.

Which is irresponsible, dangerous, stupid, arrogant, ignorant (insert any other description here) and can cause incidents like the one here involving a completely innocent driver, arrested by the police for no apparent reason other than being a foreign truck driver parked in a layby who cannot have been involved in the incident as he was sleeping!!

Yes it is but the ages given for two of the deceased are 31 and 39. I get the idea of night fishing off the beach, people do that - though heaven knows why. Gazing at the moon only fits with being completely wasted which doesn’t need a 60 or 70 mile one way trip. As for planning people smuggling, anyone who thinks they’d get away with it under the noses of Dover Coastguard in the most closely monitored stretch of the channel has to be out of their tree. Far easier to do that in the Dungeness area.

Guilty as charged. It was good fun though. Around the time I also visited the ports to ship out in my lorry, I ran as bent as a nine bob note too, PLG tax in the window, fuel tanks full of red, speeding all day, every day, running on the wire/fuse out/cable disconnected, woke up most mornings with a hangover, if I actually went to bed at all, that was good fun too.

just another day in paradise then…
It seems like paradise in comparison to the job today.
Can you imagine what the old timers forum will look like in 20yrs, “I remember this one day, I got to work, got assigned a lorry, put my digicard in and spent 20minutes doing my daily checks, spotted a bulb out on the top of the trailer, so walked to the office and told them it needed fixing before I went anywhere, then I trundled down the road at the speed limit and was late to the delivery and it was refused, I called the company and told them I’m bringing it back and they would have to book me out later the next day as I wasn’t going to have a reduced rest period and went back to the yard, got in my car and went home.”

Then…Just as well I refused as my sat nav went off 2 mins later completely knackered, so I took a few days on the sick.
They even asked me to go out of the yard without one …just who do they think they are, that’s just too much to ask of anyone, how tf would I manage ?

I know this is off topic but…
Aah, happy days. No H&S b#ll#x… …
Trusted to do the job without people constantly looking over your shoulder…
Transport managers who knew the job because they’d been there…
Sorry, I’ll shut up now and go and wallow in a puddle of nostalgia.
